5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Good looking beer, a deep red with a tint of orange and a tall, creamy beige head. The aroma is sweet and malty, has a touch of toast, apples, and berries. The flavor is toasty and sweet, fruity with a light earthy bitterness to balance it out. Good session stuff.

Beautiful bodied ale with great flavors and pleasant sweetness. Packed with caramel flavors, vanilla and almond and a fine after bitterness.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub 4/12/06: Dark red with a fizzy head. Robust nuttiness. Darn near a java-like flavor. Excellent beer in a style that usually means "vapid" in this country.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Ale Yeah! in Decatur, GA. Color is a little less on the ruby side than the bottle would indicate. Long lasting creamy head. Mellow florals upfront melt to a combination yeasty-hoppy finish.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at brewery. Clear amber with a thin foamy light kahki head, leaves loads of great lace. Floral caramel aroma with some light refreshing grapefruit tones in the nose as well. Flavor has loads of crystal malts making for a caramelly flavor with subtle earthy toffee, floral grapefruity hops on the back, with a sort of ruby juicy flavor I can’t put my finger on. But really delightful.

Subtle earthy aroma. Dark red color. Fruity notes to start followed by an earthy flavor with a very very smooth finish. Awesome.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is yeasty and malty and just a little fruity, mainly apple. It pours a lovely dark mahogany-copper with a thick, fluffy, off-white head. Rich flavor is a nice surprise, malty, fruity and slightly hoppy with hints of caramel and herbs. Smooth texture has a nice hoppy edge and a firm tingle. Definitely worthy.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Amazing aroma of sweet malt, honey, caramel, toffee, butter, cinnamon and fresh baked bread. Flavor starts with a little hop sting, but ends very malty. Palate is very smooth, I had this just after the Rogue American Amber, and this is more intriguing and more drinkable, IMO. Bottle from Frugal McDoogal’s.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2011 Poured from bottle . Molasses, raisin in aroma. Solid mahogany tan head. Cocoa, nut, caramel, brown sugar in flavor. Floral hops in back. Dry but somehow also creamy as well. Great drinkability. A pleasant surprise.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Slightly hazy amber with a thin beige head; medium-full body with medium-full carbonation.
Aroma: sweet caramel malt and bright leafy hops combine into a cross between hop candy and earthy silage.
Taste: roasted malt with some sweetness and husk, leafy woody hops, and a finishing bitterness that combines herbal hops with grainy astringency.
Fairly complex and balanced, with an herbal bitter finish, keeping it sessional and food-friendly.
