3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle. A truly beautiful beer with small tan head over a clear deep red body. Head leaves the building rapidly. Excellent noble hop aroma for an amber. Love Willamette. Malt aroma is not neglected. Smells almost like a Maris Otter malt. Lots of good caramelly sweetness. Excellent balance in the beer with the sweetness gradually overtaken by the hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and lively. The bitterness lingers into the aftertaste. I want to take another sip to start the whole trip over again. A very nice American amber.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very nice dark beer with a glow that resembles red wine. Foam is rich, but quickly falls into a continuous layer of about 3-4 mm. It smells of toasted malt and sweet ripe fruit. The taste is spicy something indefinite, but it also carries on a good mellow flavor of roasted malt which to a certain limit tangential it burned. Ripe fruit like plum and peach mixes lively with a great rich flavor of hazelnut and large amounts of caramel malt. The hops I can read as Willamette and it is precisely known as its slightly spicy taste, so I think it’s the aroma of hops which are encountered in the beginning. As amber ale is probably a little too pushy, but since it is an American I might easily expect a little excessive type correctness. It is quite tasty and lovely amber ale which I like.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Filtered copper-burgundy body. Thin, creamy, off-white/beige head. Pretty solid on the malt side, but the hops give it a kind of an odd earthy feel. A pinch bigger than medium bodied, pretty easy going. An OK example of the style.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Drank from a nonic pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle purchased as part of a craft brew pack of eight. Pours a beautiful mahogany, brown color with a bit of beige head. Has a slight roasty aroma with something musty. Has a decent initial flavor that just drops into an off putting complexity, reminds me more of a couple of vienna lagers I’ve drank in my day. Expected more from this amber by FCB.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz pour from refrigerated bottle into shaker pint. Pours a light brown, clear, with a fizzy, quickly-dissipating head. Not super attractive. Nose is a little bit of sweet bready notes and a little fruity citrus. Medium body, on the lighter side. Pleasantly smooth. Dry as well. Taste is bready malts up front followed by some earthy hoppiness. A hint of spice and citrus. Not too sweet. I’d like a little more of the hops flavors to come out, though maybe I just got an older bottle.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
355 ml bottle, from Fakta, Denmark. B B date 30.05.2014. Gusher bottle de luxe, only a little of the hazy deep reddish brown beer ends up in the glass. Large to moderate off-white head. Fairly nice malty aroma, lightly roasted and nutty notes. Malty, nutty and slightly roasty flavour too, a slight fruity acidity. Okay, and probably better fresh.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2014 12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, displaying a clear & bright, coppery amber color, with a decent layer of tan head foam that was quick to reduce to a bubbly film, but left a lot of clingy, waves & foamy patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma was initially, light grain, soft malt, sweetness, and esters as dried fruit, with a hint of artificial cherry. Again, as with my experience with the Major Tom, the nose turned a bit, showed more ripened fruit, and revealed a hint of cardboard, after rehashing halfway through the session. Light to medium bodied, with presentable carbonation, the taste didn’t seem to be affected as much by the off notes, as it presented esters, plus a moderate, earthy hop bitterness that possessed some lingering nature, a little sweetness, and a bit of malty creaminess to the mouthfeel. No dating on the bottle, but purchased recently. Saved somewhat by the fair flavor presentation.
