ross (1562), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 7, 2008 Talk about going in the wrong direction.... After drinking the NG Weizen beer, I opened one of these, and damn. Not what I was hoping it would be. Hopefully the next beer of the evening will make up for it. Pours out an orange to red color, with a nice white head on it. There is some aroma of hops and malts which isnt bad. Pretty floral smell actually. The taste is where the beer loses it for me. It is drinkable, but that is about as far as I would go. The hop flavor is good but it is overwhelmed by the malt presence. Not really balanced, and when compared to my daily drinker IPA (2 Hearted) there really is no comparison. Drinkable in its own right though, and I wouldnt refuse to drink it, but I am not sure I would seek it out again either.
IlanMan (573), Winona, Minnesota, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle: Pour is very clear amber/orange/golden with a nice fluffy off white head. Aroma is strong pine with some floral character. Flavor is up front bitter hops and malt but suddenly gets a slight bit watered down in the finish. Until this moment, I really like this brew. Fresh and well blended. May drink again. CelticBrew (504), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours medium amber from 12 oz bottle forming good size foamy head. Aroma of floral hops, raw malts and mango. Flavour of hoppy bitterness with particular malty sweetness. Pine resins resonate, however not overly powerful. Somewhat unrefined in the end, but drinkable. Blaketj80 (12), Oklahoma, USA Oct 8, 2008 Hoppy and bitter, but nothing exciting about it. I would say that it is pretty middle of the road for an ipa. Decent aroma and feels good in the mouth, but wouldn’t go after it again unless there were very few options. KieferUGA (356), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Clear, amber color with thin, light tan head. Nice hoppy aroma, with doses of both floral and citrus notes. Chewy, malty body with a nice kick of hops as the beer opens up. Long bitter finish. This is a really nice beer, well done. machfive55 (65), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2008 Poured a hazy amber color with a nice tan head that lasted. The aroma was of citrus and floral hops. First sip was chocolate and malt with a slight bitterness at the back end. It started out with a good hoppy balance with the malt, maybe the malt was slightly dominating. As the beer warms up the bitterness comes out and whacks you in the face. The beer ends extremely bitter with a decent malt aroma. An OK IPA, nothing extraordinary, a solid beer.
