COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Know your brewer: I get inspired. A lot of time it’s by friends and a lot of other times it’s by beer. Some conversations, some hops, and a gratitude for what some righteous monks across the mighty Atlantic have been up to for decades. Through that comes this: a classic Trappist yeast playing ball with an aromatic Double IPA. "Tripel-Double." No easy buckets!

Bottle. The pour was a clear medium tarnished gold with an average sized (1-2 finger) white frothy head that receded down to a thin film and small collar, creating some excellent sticky lacing. The aroma was of a mild grain malt, grassy hops and a musty Belgian yeast with notes of citrus (orange peel), caramel and a mild peppery spiciness. The taste was a bold bitter sweet with a hint of caramel up front, and then mellowed slightly into a hoppy citrus taste with a spicy yeast flavor on the back end. The flavor was short lived but very enjoyable, and had a mild spicy hoppy finish. Mouthfeel was light in body with a dry and somewhat watery texture and a good strong carbonation. Overall I found this to be a rather light brew for an Imperial IPA. Although the balance of hops and yeast seem to work very well together in this beer, making it quite easy to drink and enjoy…

Bomber bottle poured a milky orange hue w/ thin fully diminishing head. Sweet orange citrus aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are lemon, orange, ruby red grapefruit, malt and vodka. Full bodied and very boozy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

August 22nd, 2012 - Ft. Collins Brewery’s regular brews always seemed just a bit on the normal side, and by normal I mean somewhere in the center of a normal distribution. There’s a whole lot of beer in the middle of the quality spectrum from there, but all of that changed with the Ft. Collins series, which I regularly find interesting, if not delicious. It pours with a pretty transparency, and colored by a lighter orange glow that flirts with a darker yellow part of the spectrum, and from this hazy and warming color comes a bitter and sweet aroma: dandelion greens and white grapes provide a smooth, inviting astringency, reminding me of arugula’s complementarity in salads with fruits and other sweet bits. There’s also a honeyed grits (or honeyed polenta, if you like) component in the aroma that’s quite nice. Upon a thinly carbonated palate is a but of white grape flavor, dry lager qualities, some flowers, and a bit if alcohol kick that tackles the palate in the aftertaste. It’s an engaging and bright beer - in spite of the lazy mouthfeel - with light, sunny, and even lemony flavors, though unfortunately marred by a flat, unengaging palate.

Had great good aroma, had high hopes. Hoppy first taste, then all goes to hell from there. Aftertaste lingers and is not good. Clean but bland taste to start with but that aftertaste is overwhelming... and not in a good way.

Bottle, shared with my in-laws. Hazy medium gold body, thick persistent white head. Sweet honeyish malts, vaguely spicy yeast character, peppery bitter finish. Not bad, not great either.

This was good but that’s all. The flavor had the Belgian spiciness to it, but the hops weren’t really there or meshing well. A bit disappointing.

Light beautiful color from a bottle. Thin head, hoppy double Belgian yeasty beer. Flavorful, hoppy and very drinkable.

Pours a pretty clear orange with small fluffy head. Smell has some belgian yeast funk, a bit of orange zest. Crisp aroma. Flavor a bit muddled. Heavy lemon zest and serious yeast funk. Solid bitter bite with a sweet finish. Fruit is very present and this went very well with some guacamole believe it or not. Medium light mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation.

Bottle shared somewhere in the middle of Florida... Slight "Belgian" taste in the initial sip, but unbalanced endgame...

22oz bottle. Orange amber color, white head with very large bubbles. Aroma of Belgian yeast & attic. Some straw, some fruit. Soft, smooth texture. Flavor of apricots, straw, some spicy esters, bitter hops. Very dry. Overall, it has a honey flavor finish with an earthy character. (3467)

Bottle. Pours a light amber color with a slight head. Interesting hoppiness to it that i didn’t expect. Slight sweetness to it to cut the bitterness of the hops. Interesting beer.
