Pretty good black ipa with a stronger malt than Iíve had in previous black ipaís. The alcohol bite at the end was a little much for what I was looking for.

Pours dark brown/black with an ample head and thick lacing left behind. The aroma is a blast of hops and dark fruity esters. The taste is fantastically hoppy with just the right amount of toasted grain. This beer is brilliant.

Well, it lives up to its name. Pours a dark deep black color with a nice coffee
colored head. Nose is all hops and citrus. Taste is mad bitter with some citrus and subtle notes of chocolate. Finish is long, and hoppy. Nice IPA for hopheads. Quaff Score 7 / 10

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with an off white head and aroma of biting grapefruit and pine. Taste is very hoppy, of grapefruit, pine, roasted malt, and alcohol with a long, massive bitter finish. Lot of hop flavor in this black IPA, very nice.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber shared by Butters at the 18th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized frothy brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and raisin. The taste is chocolate, raisin, bitter pine and resin hops, candied fruits. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. More like a hoppy Brown than a Black IPA, but still really good.

Bottle @ 18th RG. Very dark with minimal head. Smells like biscotti with a bit of roast. Tastes sweet then roasty then a really delayed bitter. Sweet and bitter both follow through.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at the at 18th Richmond gathering. Side by side with the wheat and the belgian. This was my favorite. Great dark brown pour with thin layer of brown head and sudsy lacing. Piney and woodsy hop profile is surprisingly more exemplified on the flavor than the aroma. I really donít get much balance for roast or malt, but its still pretty good. Bitter finish.
