Bomber. Black color with dark tan full head. Aroma is of a small ibu IPA but it tastes like its a double. Keeps its head the whole time. Turns to a rocky head. Creamy and full. Nice brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

glennmastrange (2255) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2012
Bottle. Moderate aromas of toasted and molasses for the malt, pine and resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with charcoal, licorice and anise in the background. Head is small, frothy, light tan with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown with a red tint. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily wit a carbonation between soft ad livley. The licorice aspect of this Black IPA becomes more prevalent as it warms. Very bold and very tasty.

Opaque black color with some thick white lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and burnt wood with a slight soapy overtone. The aroma remains fairly light enough. Palate is medium full body with a feeling of chicory and coffee followed by a caramel finish. Hops remain subdued as is common with black IPAs. Very Nice!!!

Mode: Draft
Source: Taco Mac, Kennesaw
Appearance: black, frothy tan head, heavy icy lace
Aroma: sweet citrus aroma, touch of roasted
Flavor: roasted malt flavor, heavy dose of citrus hops enahnced by crystal sweetness, light bitterness rounds it out
Overall: more citrus than most cascadian IPA and it works well

Name: Imperial Cascadian IPA
Date: August 23, 2012
Mode: bottle
Source: hop city
less citrus than the draft six months ago allowing the roasted to come through stronger, more sweetness as well, still plenty of citrus but the roasted runs the show now,

3/7/12. On tap as "Tap Club" Black IPA, but it has to be this. Dark brown pour with a small khaki head that fades. Hoppy, citrusy aroma with touches of roast and chocolate. Bolder roast, coffee, and chocolate with lingering hop character. Not bad.

One of the better black IPAs I’ve had recently. Higher on the malty flavors than the hoppy ones, so it’s more like a hoppy porter IMO, with lots of chocolate and roast, although not sweet. Good beer.

Bottle from Beer Revolution. Pours black with a thick tan head and a citrus and treacle aroma. There is a smoky dark molasses flavor with a bitter hoppy finish. Hearty and tasty.

RSRIZZO (1853) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - FEB 25, 2012
22oz bottle poured into a Tulip at 42°. Color is black with good carbonation and a rocky tan head. Aroma is hoppy and roasted. It has a full body that goes down with a rich mouth feel. Flavor of deep roasted malts, giving a mild coffee note, then a nice hop flavor and an easy bitterness. After taste is a mild sweetness with a bit of caramel and a lingering roasted flavor. Overall it a good brew with nice flavors.
