Bomber. Pours black with a thick velvet tan head. Flavor and taste have rich toasted malts. You can also detect vanilla, caramel, coffee and maybe a hint of pine. Light on the palate with a strong bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Excellent.

Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - AUG 21, 2011
22oz bottle. Rating #38. Very inky black pour with a light brown head. Light aroma, a bit of chocolate and some hops in the finish. A little sweet, picking up more chocolate and light roast, but not a lot of hops really, must be hidden by the roasted malts, still a very tasty brew. (1868)

Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose is citrus with light piney notes along with some light smoke. Black with big tan head. Flavor is bitter with chocolate notes.

Bomber bottle. Pours deep black, tan head. Hop aroma, taste of bitter malt. Bit of alcohol aftertaste.

22oz bottle from BevMo. Pours a deep, fairly viscous black with a frothy beige head, nice lacing. Faint piny hops in the nose, dominated by roasted malt. Think of this beer as a hoppy Porter.

dimenhetfield (2487) - , Florida, USA - AUG 13, 2011
Poured from bottle to snifter. Aroma was mostly geared towards the hops on this one but with a slight sweet coffee note as well. The flavor was earthy and dry with a nice bitter sweet finish. The ABV is hidden very well on this one.

bhensonb (11260) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 9, 2011
Bomber from the Folsom BevMo. Pours very brown/black with a bubbly creamy tan head. Aroma is sort of swampy/herby citrus over dark near burnt malt. Med+ body. Flavor is quite citrus/resin over very dark burnt malt. We’re talking dry and astringent. And bitter. In the finish I think resin is the winner. A little creamy chocolate note pops up, but fagetaboudit. This is bitter, bitter, bitter. Great ale.

Pours jet black and initially gives off a citrus aroma which is taken over by the roast. A slight citric bitterness in the taste with the burnt notes of roasting taking over. They just about have this one dialed in. This is a tough style in my opinion.

Draft at Engine 15. Black pour with an off white head. Roasty scent and hops. Taste is very balanced between the burnt malts and hops. Creamy thick feel. Nice

Bomber poured into my Stone IPA glass. Big toasty aroma of toasted malt and burnt toast. Dark black pour with thick frothy head, gorgeous for this style. Taste is good yet perhaps not at it’s peak. I wonder if this beer was warm in a warehouse for a spell and lost some of the freshness to it. I imagine this is rather awesome when fresh, it just seems mildly off With this bottle. I will however buy it again as it has great possibility!
