3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a darkish brown with a decent sized beige head that is frothy and stick around. Aroma of floral hops - pretty intense smell so not much else pushing through. Flavor is bitter hops (fairly bright) mixed with sweet malt and a bit of molasses. Very drinkable. Less different than a standard imperial IPA than some black IPAs, but thatís not a bad thing. Good entry in the exploding list of black IPA choices.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
FROM NOTES: July 1, í12
Clear, black with a small frothy brown head and excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted sweet malt and hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium body with a dry oily texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good complex beer.

Tap at Nashville brewfest ; very good. Malt hop balance is steller. Find it. Love it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from BevMo: The liquid poured a jet black color and was topped with a firm layer of head that left behind trails of lace. In the aroma, an instant whiff of hops dominates the nose and suggests citrus fruits. The flavor is intensely bitter with a huge bite of ripe green hops that clearly counterbalance the usage of roast black malt. Definitely one of the better black IPAís Iíve had, and not to shabby for being the first beer recipe sampled by Fort Collins. This alone was enough to persuade me to buy the variety 12-pack I saw for sale.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Good. Deep brown with light tan head. Aroma is not bad, but for an imperial black ipa, I was expecting more hops thanmalt. Flavor was good, but again where does ipa come into this.

Uploading old reviews that were missing comments. Solid black IPA without a real standout feature. Good but probably won't revisit.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep black with a rocky tan head. Aroma is more sweet and roasty malt than (hint of) earthy and minty hops. Bold and bitter, also toasted carmel and coffee. Iím rating it hedonically and not for being in style, which itís not. Itís a wonderfully hoppy imperial porter and not more. If you want to call it a DBIPA, you have to knock the nose off my face with hop aroma.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle poured into my FCB pint glass. Pours black with a huge tan head and sticky lacing. Roasted malt aroma, spruce, citrus hops, wood and cocoa. Pretty full body with a smooth and silky feel. The flavor starts out roasted and is balanced by a pine and citrus hop finish that lingers. Medium hop bitterness and pretty easy to drink for 10%. Almost stout-like, a very nice offering from FCB.
