3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scoth (427) - Fort Collins, USA - MAR 20, 2011
Pours inky brown, black in the glass, with a medium tan head, very fine lasting lacing. Aromas of pine resin, hay, coffee, rye bread, and a slight floral aroma. Medium body, zesty, crisp, dry. Medium sweet, then a nice medium-strong bitterness, just a little tartness in the lasting bitter finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onslow (713) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Pour from a 22oz bomber. Inky dark brew with tan head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops blended with roasted grain and coffee. Interesting. Taste follows aroma, but with an emphasis on the IPA elements. At times the bitter hops and the roasted grains really seem to clash, at other times it seems very interesting. Interesting indeed, I doubt I’d buy again.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 ICEatALAMO (167) - Troy, Michigan, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle. Pours fairly dark with head that sticks around. The aroma has a lot of hops with some notes of a porter. Taste is nothing special and leaves a decent amount of bitterness. Just an average beer.

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 22 oz bomber. Dark black as tar pour with a thick frothy off-white head, nice sticky lacing. Aroma is doughy with hints of chocolate and light whiffs of spruce. Flavor has some marshmallow notes, some faint citrus bitterness, hints of chocolate. Thick sticky mouthfeel - overall excellent. Best I have had from Fort Collins.

Draft. Poured black with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted sweet malt and hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium body with a dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good complex beer.

650 mL bottle. Appearance and aroma are fairly typical, although the aroma is perhaps a little mild. The flavour leans a little more to the IPA side than the black side, but it is very smooth and drinkable. A really nice beer.

Pours deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice balance of piny hops and roasty malts and molasses. Coffee/roasted malts with piny earthy hops and a hint of unsweetened cocoa in the flavor. Creamy big mouthfeel, sweeter taste fades to bitter finish. Nice balance on this one.

Bottle from Spirits Lacey. Pours out a dark cola color with a thin off white head. Aroma is of pine hops, light citrus, some doughy bread, roast. Taste is full bodied, some baker’s chocolate, nice roast, and a good amount of bitterness that fades slightly as some syrupy sweetness creeps in, on an otherwise bitter finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Viking63 (10) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - APR 14, 2012
Poured a black/dark brown color with an extremely full head with nice lacing attributes. It’s appearance strongly resembles an imperial stout. Pungent aroma of citrus and a bit of pine. Nice flavors of citrus, roasted malts, coffee, maybe some unsweetened chocolate in there as well. Definately left a tingling sensation on my tongue with some moderately strong bitterness on the palate. This IPA does not disappoint and the strong hoppiness is balance out well by the malts. I really enjoyed this one.
