First beer from Manitoba. Pours deep brown with a little off white head. Aroma is better than the flavour. Sweet malts and some chocolate, with some brown sugar. Body is weak and has traces of sweet apple and toasted cereal. Finish is boring. Overall pretty dull.

Probably one of the better Fort Garry Selections. A nice dark fruity nose with a nice sweetness that reminds of raisin glosette’s. Very Drinkable - I would buy this again.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. It’s dark black colour, and a little sweet, which I like. This is a good beer.

473ml can. It pours a bubbly brown with a fizzy cola-like head. The smell is nice, some dark fruit, nuts, cocoa, coffee, and a hint of cherry. The flavor is okay. It is sweet with a full graininess. It is like drinking dark bread. There is a slight hint of smokiness and I don’t know if it is an off-flavor. There is a nit of tartness. This isn’t that amazing of a beer.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2011 Bottle. Kind of harsh. Dark with a bit of coffee and sweetness. Not too bad, but nothing special either.

Bottle from SJ. Brown pour with thin beige head. Aromas of mild roast, mild chocolate and some dark fruits. The taste was thin, bland and un inspiring.

The heaviness of the darker malts is evident in the smell. Some decent head, not much lasting and not great on the lacing either. The malts really, really come through and taste great, not that strong or dark but a nice flavour. It’s sort of sweet but it doesn’t last, and then there’s the malts but there really not that good... it’s a pretty decent beer with some good flavour, everything else is alright but not that great.

Pours almost black with a beige head. Aroma is nice lots of roasted malts. Flavour is nice slightly hoppy with intense caramel and roasted malt flavour. This is a nice beer. if i had any complaint i would have to say that it is a little thin. flavour really dies out.

33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Deep amber, almost ruby hued. Sweet malt and caramel aroma, some faint smoke somewhere in there. Flavor is not as sweet as the aroma would indicate, mild with some vanilla on the finish.

Bottle. 5%. Best of the taster pack from Fort Garry/Two Rivers. Not saying too much. Dark, coffee coloured pour, weak tan head with little retention. Aroma is quite sweet. Taste is roasted malts, mild hops, and a lingering sweetness that is borderline unpleasant.
