COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing Kona Imperial Stout as part of the Fort Garry Brewmaster Series. Not your ordinary ale - this Imperial Stout was brewed with over 50 pounds of rich roasted coffee beans harvested from the sunny shores of Kona, Hawaii. We’ve also upped the ante by using two types of hops and an international blend of 10 different malts. The flavour is described as “intense in-your-face goodness" by Matt Wolff, our brewer here at Fort Garry. Enjoy a powerful balance of flavours from the malt, coffee and hops.

Pours black, dark head. Aroma of berry-coffee and roasted malt. Some milk chocolate in the flavour. Silky viscosity goes well with the coffee flavour. Simple and very nice; they’re doing themselves a disservice by mislabeling the style.

Bomber from Tbadiuk in Spring CANBIF 2013. Gorgeous black pour with a generous brown head that settles nicely to a thin, pockety yet velvet layer. Somewhat roasted malt, thinly chopped up bakers chocolate (like when you use a chef’s knife on a big block of chocolate to get it ready for a double boiler), fair amount of coffee and hint of vanilla. Moderate+ carbonation, moderate body, well balanced, not sure its imperial but think this is a really good stout, somewhat bitter at first although that grows. Tasty.

I’m not sure this is an imperial stout, but it’s certainly a very good stout. Pours thick black with lots of mocha head and lacing. Very pungent aroma of dark chocolate, roast malt and some smoke. Also lots of coffee. Leaves with a nice nutty and coffee bitterness. Texture thick and creamy. Bottle.

Pours a pitch black with some lacing. Aroma of cocoa, cold coffee, roasted malts. Taste of cold coffee with some cocoa, a bit of vanilla, roasted malts. Good balance. Dry finish. Low to medium body and medium carbonation. A decent stout, not really an imperial stout but definitly something i would drink again.

This is not an Imperial Stout. It is a decent beer however Black, small brown head.Nose of coffee, lightroast and alcohol.Nice roast coffee profile, big bitter roast finish. Too thin and low alcohol for style

Lots and lots of coffee on the nose and palate. A medium amount of dark chocolate at the back. Somewhat of an alcohol astringency, which is surprising for only 6.5 ABV. Still a pretty good stout worth checking out. Not very bitter and has very little aftertaste.

Pours an opaque black with spotty light brown foam that actually laces the glass minimally. Aroma consists of coffee mostly, and moderate roasted malt. Flavour of Kona coffee with coffee/dark malt/hop bitterness, solid roasted malt backbone and a bit of an earthy finish. One of the better coffee beers I’ve had but not that high on my list of imperial stouts.

Pours an opaque black with a big brown head that dissipates quickly into a ring. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, bitter coffee, and a little bit of grassy hops on the finish. Nice smooth coffee flavor throughout.

Thanks northropfrye for this one! Pretty thin blak with a tan foam head. Aroma is heavily of coffee, some smokiness and roasted malt. Pretty tasty, dominated by coffee but its not my favorite coffee flavour. A bit thin, not very "imperial" but a nice coffee stout nonetheless. Good job.
