COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing Kona Imperial Stout as part of the Fort Garry Brewmaster Series. Not your ordinary ale - this Imperial Stout was brewed with over 50 pounds of rich roasted coffee beans harvested from the sunny shores of Kona, Hawaii. We’ve also upped the ante by using two types of hops and an international blend of 10 different malts. The flavour is described as “intense in-your-face goodness" by Matt Wolff, our brewer here at Fort Garry. Enjoy a powerful balance of flavours from the malt, coffee and hops.

Bottle. Heavy aroma of roasted coffee and that really comes thru in the flavor and gives it its bitterness. IBU 50. There’s also a hint of chocolate. Nice brew if you like the coffee stout.

22 oz. bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small khaki head. The aroma and flavor is roasted malt, strong coffee, some chocolate notes with a hint of earthy bitterness to the finish. The body on this is a bit thin and with the abv being so low it doesn’t seem very imperial.

Dark coffee brown pour with a small, creamy brown head. Lots of coffee here, with some sweet vanilla flavour, malt and some subtle complementing spices as well. Very enticing aroma to boot - smells like a boozy dessert coffee. While not overly complex or perfectly balanced, I really liked this beer.

Bottle. Okay, I agree with everyone here that the label "imperial stout" hardly seems fitting, but that’s what the brewers put on the label, so... I will say that the coffee character here was very nice and fresh, however the supporting malt structure just didn’t provide that big body I look for in an impy. Dry, slightly vegetal finish. Good, but taken down a few points by erroneously placing itself in the imperial category. It’s like a talented junior-high athlete insisting he can compete at college level.

Bottle shared with toffsbury. Calling this "Imperial" at 6.5% seems a little silly. Pours black with a light brown head. Dry coffee aroma. Taste is dry and grainy with plenty of coffee. Medium body. Not really my cup of tea.

Dark coffee in colour with a thick head. Inconsistent in flavours; coffee, bitter, beer. Not very smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Interesting...how do you call a 6.5% brew an Imperial Stout. Pours a deep burgeoning black with a thin wispy tan head that dies to a mere layer of bubbles. The nose although replete with coffee and espresso aromas lacks a robust malt and warmth of a great Imperial Stout. The flavour is sweet and roasty up front with noted coffee and french roast flavours. Mild roasted robustness and intensity with a moderate bitterness on the finish. A lingering coffee flavour well into the aftertaste is rewarding. overall, a great little brew.

Bottle shared by DanielCoor. Poured a clear dark brown color with a minimal frothy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, coffee and earthy hop aroma. Medium to heavy sweet and dark coffee flavor with a medium to heavy dark coffee finish of moderate duration. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a good beer.
