COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Fort Garry Brewmaster Series introduces the Munich Eisbock. Originally made as a high gravity Doppelbock (8%) this beer was then frozen to remove a large percentage of water which in turn increased the alcohol content (95%) and heightened the flavour profile. This beer has a forward malty sweetness from the Munich malt with a wonderful sharp clean bitterness to it. It has a full, creamy mouth-feel that coats the palate nicely. The aroma has a slightly spicy hop character balanced with a malty note. Made with German Pilsner and Munich malts plus traditional Hallertau Aroma Hops and Nugget Bitter Hops.

Brown amber with large foamy head. Caramel and cereal malt aroma. Lots of sweet caramel taste, a bit too much for me. Pretty decent all around though

Bottle - Malty nose with a hint of spice and a little citrus. Clear rich amber colour with a wonderful frothy head that lingers and expands. Thick malt flavour with vanilla and spice notes along with some bitterness that seems a bit out of place. A bit rich for a session beer, but makes a great winter ale.

Bottle [660ml] shared with garthicus & HogTownHarry -- c/o GregClow. March 21. Pours a deep orange-ruby with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and toffee, slightly sweet as well. Flavour’s also sweet, with caramel malt, toffee, light hops, light spices and a boozy bitter finish. Average bodied. Not really an Eisbock to me, not great either, just O.K.

Bottle from Darby’s, Vancouver
Bright amber color, with short lived head. Some malt caramel and cereals aroma. Good malt flavor, caramel, clean, with some cereals and strong bitterness; some alcohol warmth; also the body strength and mouthfeel are correct; there is some residual sweetness. It’s at least a good Doppelbock, although not eis-ed; I had this bottle warmer than the Russell Eisbock draught, and therefore it was better.

Bottle, 9.5%. Good caramelly aroma with a little rough alcohol. Clear shiny brown colour. Small white head. The flavour is quite caramelly with a good spicy hop note. Rough alcohol flavour. Liquoricy aftetaste, not aniseed, but something similar. Unpolished, but OK.
