3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to cards04. This beer poured from the an a hazy brown-orange with a nice foam head. Aroma has a lot more malt than expected. Citrus hops, caramel malt, and a little brown sugar. Medium body with a substantial mouthfeel. Lots of toasted malts compliment the hop bitterness. I like this beer but I wouldn’t say it’s a west coast style with the ample use of toasted and caramel malts. Still, it’s well balanced and quite tasty.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Spring 2014 edition - I was lucky enough to try this beer before it was ever released and it’s completely changed since then.
The beer when it first came out was a very strongly West Coast styled IPA, but the 2014 edition is a bit more malty with sweet caramel, not as bitter.
Portage and Main has notes of pine, a hint of grapefruit, a quite hop-forward IPA, though not quite as bitter & floral as some like Central City’s Red Racer IPA. A bit of a bitterness lingers on the palate, but this is an IPA that I keep buying over and over.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark amber with a nice off white head. Aroma is a woody pine, with biscuity caramel malt. Some slight graininess to it. Well carbonated with some pine/grapefruit bitterness across the middle palate. Finished mildly bitter. Appropriate body on this one. This beer is not bad, just not great. It is by far the best I have had from Fort Garry! Thanks Steve!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. A nice and tasty IPA, with more bitterness and flavour than I was expecting, especially from Fort Garry. One of their better offerings.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pale amber in colour with medium to borderline strong carbonation. Aromas are a blend of pine sap and fresh cut pine, along with pale malt and a bit of caramel. I get more grapefruit and herbs along with more of the cut pine in the mouth, Fairly assertive and slightly woody (sort of Chinook hop-like) bitterness.

Citrus on the nose. nice amber hue and fine head in the glass. A touch bitter, which it promises as an IPA. Best Fort Garry beer I’ve tasted but a tad pricey for what you get.

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy copper with a thick off-white head. In a tankard it looks like the most appatizing beer I’ve ever poured. A faint smell of hops does not prepare you for the bitterness promised from a 60 IBU brew. On the pallate the long lasting bubbles from the head provide a nice contrast to the smooth, medium thickness of the drink. The bitterness has less of a bite part way through. Only major downside is the aftertaste.

The smell of hops is immediate with this IPA. Nice amber/copper colour with a frothy creamy head. Smooth hoppy finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark ruby,,, reddish brown? Aroma is pine, vegetables, some citrus. Taste is pretty harshly bitter, citrus is lacking, too malt heavy for me. Not a bad effort. Thanks andrew!
