2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 piscator34 (1798) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, - JAN 4, 2013Bottled sample shared with oakbluff. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of dusty pumkin pie spieces, milk chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Sharp spice notes dominate the flavor profile (especially the nutmeg... WOW!), but some traces of nougat, chocolate chips, vanilla, and roasted nuts come through on the back end. Medium bodied with a sharp finish. Painfully overspiced, but the base porter underneath is actually pretty good. Kind of a shame.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 andrewturba (456) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 25, 2013
Pours a very dark brown with thin tan head and decent logs. Aroma is made up of spices that over shadow the light oak+vanilla and a sweet maltiness overall. Flavour is a lot of spice(much stronger than the smell), alcohol, roasted malts, mild bitterness and faint oak and vanilla notes that are quite masked. Not a great balance and a burnt/spicy/bitterness that lingers a little while in the after taste.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Reimer96 (590) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 25, 2013
Pours a clear brown with a orangosh hue and a small light brown head on top. Aroma of sweet vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and other random spices. Taste is slight sweet vanilla oak however it is completely dominated by all the nutmeg and other spices in this beer. Leaves a somewhat unpleasant bitterness on the finish. This beer is decent in small quantities with a festive dessert however a whole pint is too much.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 cards04 (826) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 8, 2013
Pours a nice black with cocoa head. Nice oaky aromas mixed with spices. Flavours are oak, roasted malts and a bit of spice. Thin and a bit watery. Not bad overall.

I smell coffee and chocolate. I taste coffee on the back of my throat. Some toffee notes. It’s nice.

Subtle aroma of chocolate and oak. Taste is moderately spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, dark chocolate, more bitter coffee/chocolate than sweet, but not an overly strong taste. Overall, pretty good.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DuffMan (5196) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown, orangey highlights, witha medium beie head. Aroma is muted, but the spices are showing their dominance. Sweet oaky vanilla caramel is lost under a barrage of nutmeg spice. Finish is bitter. Very out of balance, with the spice essentially eclipsing the other elements. Not a favourite.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (3262) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 14, 2012
650ml bottle pours almost black on color with a 2 finger light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is all-spice and cinnamon with hints of chocolate and caramel. Taste is a caramel and light chocolate malty sweetness with some cinnamon and all-spice and a mild hop bitterness. Medium bodied with some nice carbonation. An interesting porter that is recommended to try.
