Aroma – Good rich dark malts with a tad of hops making it through.
Appearance – Dark brown in color, Thin head and clear.
Flavor – Had a rich thick flavor this was a stout you serve with a fork.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, Nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – I liked this stout the flavors where so rich the malts where roasted very nice. A great beer.
Ungstrup (10853), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 3, 2008 Draft. At my visit I was told it was at 8.8% ABV. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The arom is sweet matly with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is very sweet with notes of chocolate and roasted malt as well as lighter notes of coffee, leading to a dry, sweet, and slightly roasted soy sauce finish. bhensonb (2735), Woodland, California, USA Dec 19, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Toasted malt aroma. Blackish color with a tannish head. The body is medium; the carbonation is mild. The flavor is toasted malt with a tart character. Some coffee. Finishes not quite dry. Seems a bit different from the common stout herd. There is a touch of chocolate. Alcolhol was not bothersome. JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 7, 2007 Black, still. Coffee, anice in the nose. Thinner body, somewhat grapey with slight hints of coffee.Alcoholis and vinous at the finish. A bit off. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Sep 11, 2007 From a growler. Pours very dark black with a 1 finger brown head. Aroma of coffee and malt and some hops. Flavor has light maltyness with plenty of roastyness to go around. Some sweetness but not a ton and has some definite bitterness. After awhile bitterness starts to build up on the tongue, this is definitely well hopped. The bitter roast and hops begins to get cloying on the tongue and build up or this would get a much higher score from me.
