An immense, bold, black as night, american stout beauty; Cavatica is no dry Irish anything. Made in the tradition of terminator, except stronger, one sip and you will surely take notice of what you’re drinking. The name honors this brewer’s affinity with arachnia. Be forewarned, this beer will stain your clothes.

Can, 05/02/2015. Thick black pour, thick medium tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, medium roast and coffee, vanilla sweetness. Taste is chocolate, roast blending with hop bitterness to balance some of the sweetness, some astringency with espresso in the finish. Medium full body, fairly smooth. Not bad.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a large chalice on 01.27.15. A: Cocoa, chalk, and milk chocolate. A: 3 finger tan head that stays. Midnight black body. T: Cocoa dominates. Milk chocolate, slight roastiness on the back end, and slight vanilla are subtle. P: Creamy smooth with bubbles on the back end. Thin mouthfeel. O: This is a very subtle, easy drinking stout. The balance and the mouthfeel are the shining parts.

Canned (8.8%) from Safeway. Pitch black in color upon pouring. Nose is fairly roasty with a bit of sweetness. Good roasty character up front. Leading into a bit of coffee flavors. Quite smooth and easy to drink. Mild hop character. Not the most flavorful impy around, but it is extremely easy to drink for its strength. A little warming as well. Maybe a touch of booze in the finish.

From can into snifter thanks 5000! Black with medium to small light brown head soapy residue left and some head around edges. Nose has a big hit of chocolate with cocoa, roasted malts. Very smooth body soft carbonation, medium dryness in the finish, some burnt sugar, slight bitterness. Finish becomes sweeter as the beer warms with a long finish of malted barley. Well rounded stout.
