12/16/2013. From can. Pours black with a tan head. Nice lacing. Aromas are dark roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate. Not as bitter or robust as other stouts, but good balance. Nice stout.

2.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Appearance: near black with a thick, creamy beige head; poured from a black can covered with unappetizing pictures of spiders, although the captions were relatively humorous. Aroma: smells nice, with aromas of dark and sweet chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, leather, graham cracker, and coffee. Taste: unpleasantly herbal, almost minty, and unbalanced toward the astringent and hoppy, with a hint of bitter roast underneath. Finish: lingering herbal, piney, green-stick woody hops giving way to a low, medicinal minerality. Notes: Ugh. Nice aroma and good palate, as well a decent appearance (barring the can). The flavors were just off for me. Not a properly-hopped stout. Way too herbal and the bitterness was overpowering.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Serving: from can--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles.
Aroma: light malt.
Appearance: large, rocky, light brown initial head with fair lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Dark-brown/black body.
Taste: moderately sour, roasty, initial flavor and finish with hint of chocolate and wood. Short duration.
Palate: medium-to-full body, watery texture and lively carbonation.
Overall: not for me.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Aroma is sweetish - liqourice, chocolate, and vanilla. A brown-black pour with a vigorous, mostly lasting, khaki head with abuntent lacing. The taste is, overall, mildly sweet. Milk chocolate, liqourice, with hints of coco cola and citrus. While there is a nice moderately bitter finish, there is not much roasted flavor going on here. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed this stout, but it is not as robust and/or roasty as I would have expected.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
473ml can. Velvety black with foamy off-white head. Aroma of over-roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, vanilla...hint of smoked ham. Sweet. Thick, oily, dry and potent. Could do with some mellowing.

Can @ Richard’s tasting. Black pour with a big tan head. Roasted malt, graham cracker, and soap. Metallic aroma, some pennies. Meh. Roasted malt flavor, metal, and pennies. Light soap, graham cracker, and ash.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
16oz can. Dark, clear brown pour with medium, coffee foam. Good retention. Acetaldehyde/green apple nose. Taste is dusty, bitter, dark chocolate. Solid, simply. Dry, clean palate. Aroma is unfortunate.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A very big stout. Quite smoky, and quite roasty. Not a sweet one. Some coffee notes. There's an earthiness here that I can't put my finger on. It tastes "black," for lack of a better word. Quite good! B
