An immense, bold, black as night, american stout beauty; Cavatica is no dry Irish anything. Made in the tradition of terminator, except stronger, one sip and you will surely take notice of what you’re drinking. The name honors this brewer’s affinity with arachnia. Be forewarned, this beer will stain your clothes.

16 oz can from New Seasons Market in Hillsboro, OR. Looks thick and syrupy. Initial nose is roasty and sweet. Creamy and velvety smooth mouthfeel, with gentle carbonation. Roasted grains give lots of depth and flavor, with little astringency. Aroma has hints of chocolate, leather, and hazelnuts. Very strong and malty, but not too boozy. Great subtle bitter finish that perfectly balances out the sweetness and lasts long into the aftertaste. An all-time favorite!

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 3. Pours rich brown with a bubbly, beige head. Fantastic. Rich mocha character. Thick chocolate in the flavor. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warming finish. Slight boozy oak, mocha, dry roasted malts. Super.

Nice black body with off-white head, creamy, roasty, hoppy, coffee-ish, and a nice balance of chocolate with a nice dry (but not overly so) finish. Unpretentious and delicious.

Cask@GBBF2011. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, wood and some chocolaty notes. Flavour is the same with some slight notes of vegetables and some mild roasted and toffeeish notes.

A stout that is what it is and doesn’t try to be anything other than delicious. 16 oz can. Light carbonation but very well balanced flavor.

A very smooth and strong imperial stout, the sweet and bold flavor mask any booziness from this tasty warming beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very big stout. Quite smoky, and quite roasty. Not a sweet one. Some coffee notes. There's an earthiness here that I can't put my finger on. It tastes "black," for lack of a better word. Quite good! B ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A stout man’s Stout. This beer is strong, heavy, hearty, thick, and rich. A true Stout, an honorable Stout.

"Like a suped up export style stout. Big roast and chocolate in the aroma and flavor, with hints of dark fruit, licorice, and coffee. Didn’t know this was an imperial, so i didn’t expect it to be so big (and with little hint of 8.5% alcohol). One of my favorites of Canfest.

2010-06-28. Black body with a nice brown head and great lace. 4+ Flavour is rich and malty, modest bitterness with enough hops to be interesting. 7+ Aroma is similar, sweet rich malt, light alcohol and bare hint of roast. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate is pleasantly creamy but not quite as thick as I would like. Rather good. On tap at Fort George, Astoria
