COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While hops and bitterness are all the rage today this beer takes time to explore the complexity and character of malt. This red is really more of a rich scarlet and is created from a wide variety of speciality malts carefully milled together to form a layer of toast, roast, and bisquit with a nutty finish. These are balanced with mild and complementary hops resulting in a beer neither too bitter nor too sweet.

Dark reddish amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice fruity hop in the nose with dark roast malts . This is bitter with a light biscuit flavor. Dry finish this is a great pasta brew, Light with the nuts.

On tap at brewery: Wow, malts were rich, roasty and sugary. Had big elements of nuts, toast, caramel, toffee and grains. Bitterness was decent, but it seemed to struggle to keep up with the big malt flavors.

Tap at the brewery. Reddish brown pour. Smooth toffee, nut malt taste with touches of euro hop bitterness. Malty, toffee and nut aroma. Decent brew.

2010-06-28.Red brown body with a small off-white head and nice lace. Aroma is pleasantly nutty, hints at cocoa briefly, sweet fruity accents. 7+ Flavour is sweeter, lightly fruity malt profile, milder nut character than in the aroma, mild malt core. 7+ Super smooth average body. Rather nice, simple but lovely. On tap at Fort George, Astoria

[3018-20100628] Tap. Mild cherry notes in the aroma. Slightly hazy, dark red body with a quick creamy off-white head. Grainy mild malt flavour. Medium body. Good red, fairly drinkable.

Tap @ their brewpub... Poured amber/brownish with a thin white head. Smooth and clean. Quite drinkable, like the everyday man’s beer. Hops, earthy and woody. Malty finish with a hint of fruit and yeast in the finish.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a hazy brownish-amber color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily. Sheet of lacing on the glass. Nutty, malty aroma. Medium, smooth body with roasted nut, malt, and mild hops flavors. The finish is malty with a lingering roasty sweetness. Above average overall.

Draught. Poured red with medium white head.. Toasty aroma. Malty flavour, with fresh toast and biscuitty notes. Enough hop in the finish to keep it from being too sweet.

Had this on tap at Fort George. Colour... Ruddy amber with a thin tan head. Nose... grainy and nutty. Palate... some hops up front, then NUTS! I don’t think there are any actual nuts in here, but it seems rather filbert like, to me. Bitter on the back palate with some roasty malt and medium finish.

On tap at Fort George, a cool place in the hometown of the Goonies. One of my least favorite beers here. Reddish auburn in color. Aroma of nuts, fruit and earth. Flavor was pretty sweet, a bit too much actually. Caramel and fruit. Not a big fan here.
