5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2014 All I can say is wow. If you think that you’ve had it all the time you tried 60 Minute IPA, think again. There’s a new king in town and his name is Tex. From this little brewery on the Oregon Coast comes a colossal IPA that will fry your brian. Super complex, and rich it is now my all time favorite.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Perhaps the best commercial double ipa out there. Finally a brewery is able to balance out a butt load of hop aroma and flavor with some interesting malts. You can tell they hop bursted this sucker because it has none of that early hop harsh bitterness. This is the way all IPAs should be made. Got mine at Mainbrew ABV.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Brand New 22oz Bomber from Whole Foods - Pours a deep orange with an off white head, a little darker then I was expecting. Aroma is awesome, but the first thing I’m gettin is Hawaiian Pizza . I get pungent smells of fresh cut garlic, grass and pine; sweet notes of pineapple, fresh tomato and some booze. Flavors are sweet and malty. The bitterness is really nice, you can tell a lot of hops went into this. Overall I like it’s but it pretty damn sweet.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Belmont. Pours a dark copper color with a medium white head. A massive resin bomb nose. The flavor is big over the top resinous hops, pine, dank hop oils, big malty backbone, a bit like a barley wine but clearly a IIIP in many ways. Hell, this is good. The sweetness and green hop bite isn’t for everyone (Mike J!), but despite intensity, this is drinkable. The bitterness in these IIIPAs is odd, somehow intense but also I would not describe this beer as bitter.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Saraveza’s 4th IIPA fest, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of brings out loads of cat piss, citrus hops, and some dank herbal hops. Flavour is very pungent, with loads of bitter pine, a touch of citrus, some earthy notes and more piney hops. Just enough malt to round things out. Finishes very bitter and piney hoppy. An excellent IIPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Good deal of caramel and pale malt, a little danky and fruity, some residual sugar notes. Leaning definitely towards the malt side. Pours amber orange, white head. Caramel, pale malt, some residual sugar, piney and fruity hop notes, moderate presence within all the malt forwards notes. Some peppery alcohol in the finish. Sweet, some lingering residual sugar. Too much malt for my liking.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at 16 Tons. Amber pour with a thick white head and splotchy lacing. Smells heavily of caramel malt with a muted citrus and tropical fruit tint to it as well. Taste is a little more hop forward with some pine joining the citrus fun but still a fairly substantial caramel malt presence. Thick mouthfeel, just this short of being cloying. Solid beer, but I much prefer their standard Vortex IPA.
