Pint – Fort George Brewing – Astoria, OR
Aroma – Dark malt with coffee and good hint of Truffle in the aroma.
Appearance – Dark Black in color, Clear, with a thin head.
Flavor – Dark roast malts, coffee, chocolate and a nice addition of truffle in the flavor.
Palate – Dry light mushroom finish with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall – 25 years after a kids classic I was impressed with the tribute to a great movie. I was also extremely happy to try it in the town where the movie was made. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Truffle Shuffle rub my belly..

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2010 [2982-20100627] Tap. Hey you guuuuuys! Roast coffee grounds aroma has a little plastic note. Black body with a long-lasting big creamy brown head. Old roast plastic flavour has a long sweet roast aftertaste. Full body has an odd astringency. Not the greatest, though to be fair it was the last of the keg. I do love the Goonies though.

2010-06-27. Black body with a nice brown head and lace. Aroma is a bit odd... earthy, mushrooms, and a food smell I can’t place but I assume to be truffle related. I can’t decide if I love it or hate it. 6+ Flavour is similar, earthy character, hints of coffee like bitterness. 6+ Smooth average palate. Decent, interesting, but not really to my tastes today. Sloth love Chunk! On Tap at Belmont Station, Portland.

Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom... Poured black with a tan head that retained itself in the lovely snifter. Overall lots of roast and grain tone with a cedar-like earthiness that probably came from the black truffle mushrooms. Darn tasty and smooth, hints of vanilla sweetness and a moderate booziness. Ft George sure makes some lovely stouts.
