COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India pale ale's were designed to withstand the long voyage to India. Today, it seems one has to design the IPA strong and hoppy enough to make the trip back as well. Vortex IPA is the Fort George's first foray into this strong beer category. Our IPA is made with generous additions of cascade, Simcoe and Palisade hops throughout the brewing, fermentation and conditioning phases, balanced with heaps of organic pale malt. We designed this to not rip your taste buds off your tongue, but rather vigorously stimulate them and your palate into a lupulin-ecstacy of pleasure. During the cross-country truck trip our brewery made to find it's home in Astoria, it was nearly scattered to the cornfields of Nebraska by a tornado. We try to capture some of nature's intensity in every pint. IBU 97

Hazy orange with a white head. Taste is tangerine and resin. Very hoppy, but no harsh bitterness into the finish, and generally sweet but not cloyingly so. $4.75/pt ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Transparent orange with a lively head. Vinous hops and woody malts, quite earthy, with a rye note. Hops seem stale in this one. Very meh.

Cask at GBBF. Very slightly hazy gold beer. Crispy palate. Juicy grapefruit hops, grassy as well but not too bitter. Nice.

Pours a hazy orange with minimal head. Smell is a nice amount of grapefruit and citrus. Taste is grassy up front, but a nice citrus finish. Drinkable and somewhat refreshing. Good ipa.

Poured a hazy orange with a two-finger bright white head. Smells of pine, sweet grapefruit, citrus, and flowers. Taste is bitter from start to finish, with high carbonation and a surprisingly sweet finish. Floral and grapefruit hints in there. Nice, hoppy, and pretty tasty.

On tap at Horse Brass Pub, pours a hazy golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of piney hops and tropical fruits. Flavour is the same with some candied sugar - very well-balanced with the hops and sweetness. Very good.

Nothing noteworthy among the crowded IPA field. Aroma is below average, taste is very run of the mill, has a lingering bitterness that works if you like that, otherwise, it’s just another bitter IPA. Won’t be trying this one again.

Very good IPA. Orange/amber color. Poured from tap. Floral hops on the nose with a medium bodied palate. Sweet malts are quickly balanced by strong white peach and grapefruit flavors. Long, hoppy finish.

Tall boy can, purchased at Belmont Station. Pours a hazy amber color with a white head and nice lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, lemon, grapefruit. Medium on the palate with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bready, hoppy, balanced, with a nice, crisp, bitter hop finish. A nicely balanced IPA
