Cask: oily black with very little head, just a ring of film. Lots of vanilla and chocolate in the aroma. Initial flavor is all vanilla, with some dark roasted grains in the background. Little cloying. Very sticky like from the vanilla. Nicely done.

Gravity fed cask. Deep brown to blac colored. Scant carbonation is a little better than previous cask beers had here. No head to speak of. Rich vanilla aroma blends with roasted malt quite nicely. Medium bodied. Rich roasted malt, a bit astringent. Big vanilla footprint all over this. Fairly pleasant blend.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2005 On tap: Lots of vanilla and moderate chocolate in the aroma. Dark brown with no transparency. Very small off-white ring for a head. Flavor is chocolate with a big vanilla finish with barely a touch of some light coffee sneaking thru. Short lived vanilla aftertaste. While there is a lot of vanilla in the flavor it’s not overdone as if your drinking straight vanilla extract like a lot vanilla stouts and porters seem to do. Well done.
