Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA Oct 25, 2005 Cask: Pours dark amber with greta head for a cask, fades to ring of bubbles. Aroma is citrus fruit dominated, overipe orange if there is such a thing, some bitter grapefruit in the background. Flavor is al sweet malt up front, with the spice through the middle and some bitter grapefruit in the finish. Very hard to describe the woodruff, sort of clovelike with a touch of pepper, maybe? Either way, some more points for originality. Pailhead (2310), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Aug 21, 2005 Updated: Aug 27, 2005Cask: Strong aroma of orange and orange peel with some spice which I assume is woodruff but couldn’t tell you for sure since I’ve never smelled or tasted woodruff. A touch of tartness in the aroma as well. Cloudy amber with a nice white head that lasts a minute or so. Flavor has a lot of orange up front with some light sweetness. A light sourness in the middle. Finishes more orange peel than orange with some spice and a grapefruit hoppiness. Spice seems a little like clove. Very nice. I could drink a lot of this.
