On tap at the brewpub: Pours brown with an off white head. Aroma, caramel and toffee. Flavor, caramel, toffee, earthy notes, malty, but finishes on the dry side.

Draught sample at MBG 2006 Summer Festival. Dark brown with a nice creamy tan head - looks really nice for a festival sample. Aroma is roasty and a bit smoky, almost like a porter. Soft mouthfeel. Mellow flavour of roasted malt with notes of yeast and cocoa. Nice!

Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Very dark brown body with a small creamy tan head. Grainy dark malt with a very light toasty roast and light mocha notes in the aroma. Dry yet sweet flavour, very muted roast and a schwarzbier like character. Average palate. Not much wheat character 6-7/3+/6/3/13-14

On tap: Nice roasty chocolate aroma iwth light coffee. Dark brown with some transparency and a big tan head that lasts a minute or so. Lots of chocolate with moderate roasted coffee. There is the slightest hint of wheat in the background. Very porter-like. Very nice.
