2008 MiBGF: 1st beer of the fest! Very deep brown with a tan creamy head. The aroma is winey, chocolate, toasty, smoky and some anise. The taste starts twangy and vinous along with nutty and chocolate tones. Hint of coffee bitterness upon the finish. The mouth feel is oily and smooth. A nice starting beer, haha.

MBGF 07. Clear dark brown body with a medium tan cover, lasting. The aroma is roast, chocolate, molasses, vinous and light cola. The flavor is moderately sweet, vinous, molasses, milk chocolate and berries. Medium body is very soft and smooth with light carbonation. Fantastic.

On tap: For Michigan beer #500, I decided to go with the most frequented local. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, with some vinuous grape notes. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a moderate light brown head. The flavor starts with roasted coffee with some faint caramel. The finish has a vinuous grape sourness with a woody bitterness.
