MiBG Fest 2005:

Pours a medium brown hue with a tight small beige head and some lace. The aroma has notes of toffee and caramel malt, mocha, hazelnut and cashew, a vinous port like twang of rich grape. Different and I like it! The taste was close to the nose but seem to lack the knockout punch and the port like character over takes the malt and makes it a bit to acidic for me (which means a lot for the average Joe). Very light touch of bitters and wood on the finish. No nutty flavors detected. The feel is strange as well, a little thin but then I get a sticky feel upon completion of the tasting. I applude the effort and will watch to see if this brewery is up and coming.

Deep ruby color, almost black, firm brown head. Chocolaty aroma along with some of the underlying wine influence. Flavor is mainly chocolate followed by light roast and then the port flavors come through and leaves some wine on the finish. A touch light but I’m not sure that I would want this with a full body. Interesting and pretty good.

Tap: oily black with nice thick beige head. Aroma very muted buttery port aroma. Flavor is a nice balance btween chocolate and coffee with some port flavor in the finish. Leaves long wine aftertaste.

Tap @ brewpub. Nice cocoa and chocolate aroma. Taste has a rose thing going on. Most of the stuff at the pub is bitter but not always in a good way but this is their best beer by far.

Tap. Deep brown in color. No head/lacing. Portish and malty aroma. Medium bodied. Port flavors mix well with malt. Decent hops in finish. Well made.

On tap: Light chocolate and coffee aroma. Dark brown with black with tan head. Watery malt in the form of chocolate up front with a nice coffee and hop finish. Nice coffee aftertaste. Just need to increase the initial flavor.
