Tap: dark mahogany/brown, no head whatsoever. Initial aroma is all dark fruit. Raisin,prune,fig. Carmel/toffee background. Strong grainy flavor profile initially. Turns to dark fruits and malt sweetness through the midle. Some residuel sugar in the finish. As it warms, the faintest alcohol starts to come through in aroma and flavor. Lack of carbonation leads to a very sticky mouthfeel. Residuel caramel/toffee aftertaste. Will agree with Pailhead, very enjoyable, but was hard to bump up individual scores.

On tap: Huge raisin aroma with some molasses and a touch of dark fruits. Dark brown, but can’t really tell if there’s any transparency due to lighting. Virtually no head, just a couple bubbles around the edges of the glass. Definitely an English-style Barley Wine. Flavors of raisin, molasses, and light toffee. Finishes with some light chocolate and just the slightest hints of bitterness. Sweet but not too sweet like I find a lot of English-style Barley Wines. I prefer the American hoppy versions of Barley Wines. I enjoyed this beer more than my score shows, but I can’t really bump any one category up in order to score it higher. Appearance and palate hurt the final score.
