Transparent pale copper. Thin fading white head. Slightly metallic biscuity aroma with a touch of pale grains and toffee. Flavor was bland and the same; some metallic biscuit, and a touch of earthy pale grains and a whiff of toffee.

25.4 oz "oil can". Pours a really nice copper color along the lines of a microbrewed pale ale. I was going to rate this higher in appearance until I saw the words "caramel color added" on the side of the can. Kinda like cheating IMHO. I’m not getting much of an aroma at all on this brew, but there is some rather lively carbonation. First sip brings a sharp metallic bitterness, almost Saaz hops like, with a mild malty backbone, and a strong bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is decent, not heavy or watery. Overall, for a mass produced beer, this is well...decent. Not up to the standards of SNPA or Dale’s Pale Ale, but I could see myself being quite content being at a cookout & washing down some grilled food with these.

Decent taste, a little flat. Looks good with an amber and is fairly smooth to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Hints of basement aromas and bready malts, but faint. Appearance: Dark gold, light caramel color with a rocky white head that dissipates quickly. Taste: Medium sweetness throughout. Not cloying, but not balanced, either. Palate: Thin body, watery texture, flat carbonation, minimal finish. Overall: Meh...it’s drinkable, but not really worth it.

Pours a caramel color. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is bitter, some hops, not very flavorful. Overall a mediocre beer.

Originally reviewed: 7/25/09. Saw a can of this at the grocery store for a little over $2, so I thought, why not? Pours a crystal clear dark amber/orange with a huge billowy white head on top. Retention is alright, but there is little lacing. Smells like a cheap American lager. Some slight grains, sweet malts, and a slight mineral twang. Smells weak. The mouth is thin and watery. Hints of caramel, but very subtle. Finishes bitter and drying. Not a whole lot in the flavor department. Pretty average beer that I will most likely never get again.

Big damn can. I was desperately looking for a new tick- here I go! Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. A sweet nose of grains and honey. A sweet fairly clean flavor, some light ripeness, caramel, light bitterness. Very smooth. Decent.

750ml can. Pours a clear copper color with generous white head. Sweetish aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet and just a little bitter. Creamy sweet finish. Better than regular Fosters.

A decent bitter. Good overall flavor. Texture is a bit thin, aroma is okay. A little bit whimpier than I like my bitters, but a good overall beer with consistent taste that is just a tad metallic

Nice cheap beer for swilling back on those hot days like today. I don’t think anyone (other than your average Budweiser drinker) would ever accuse it of being special, but it’s nice on occasion and the oil can does have a certain appeal to it. Worth a go but probably bottom rung compared to what I susally drink.
