On tap at Churchkey in DC. Served in a stemmed goblet of some sort. Pours a somewhat-lightened copper color with a two-finger white head and incredible sheets of lacing as it goes down. Good cap throughout. The nose was nice and fairly complex with notes of tropical fruits and plenty of citrus. Some pine in there as well. Lots of Simcoe for sure. The flavor went along the same lines, with the Simcoe really standing out. Really nice combination of tropical, citrus, and pine flavors that came together with a bit of alcohol and a really smooth bitterness. Quite bitter. Beautiful mouthfeel. Overall, something that I very much enjoyed and would love to have again. Please make this more often.

Tap at Churchkey. Next to Bells Oracle. 10k pours a clear reddish orange with aggressive carbonation. Massive, poofy, light orange head emerges and never goes away. Giant lace. Nose is squashy and melony with less intense melon character. Taste is less sticky and juicy compared to Oracle. Softer on the palate with subtle bitterness. Finish, though, is wildly bitter with a massive aftertaste. Dryer than Oracle with vanilla and nutty bitterness in the finish. I’m really loving the palate here: easy to drink, soft and subtle. Not as flavorful or in your face as Bells Oracle but lovely nonetheless.

Draft at Churchkey. Clear golden color, white edge head. Aroma of pine resin. Taste is pine!! with decent balance.

Founders 10k ipa. Growler from a generous soul in grand rapids... Pours a semi vivid orangey copper hue, mostly opaque but allowing a little bit of light to pierce through. A frothy milky white head rests on top... Aroma is piney with a creamy citrus feel, semi-sweet vanilla and oak-like characteristics coincide with the aforementioned... Flavors a consistent enough with a piney citrusy focus with a sweeter crystal malt middle, some added vanilla aspects while finishing in a lightly bitter note. Not too heavily bodied and an adequate level of carbonation level us provided. Nice and solid. 8/4/7/4/15

Draft. Small off-white head, crystal clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pineapple/grapefruit, some peach. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some pineapple/peach, light alcohol. Medium body, some resin, light acidity.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deeper golden colored body with a thin, off-white, creamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is solid. Lots of piney grapefruit and orange citruses with a nice, moderate caramel sweetness to balance. Some resins, tropical fruits, and florals. Flavor is similar. Lots of resiny, sweeter citrus oranges, grapefruits, and pines up front with a solid caramel to balance that allows the big hop flavors to shine. Some tropical fruits and florals come in before this finishes dry with a moderate bitterness and pretty resiny, piney, juicy citrus that leaves a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body with a moderate carbonation and just a hint of alcohol. Overall, a very nice DIPA. Lots of resiny citrus pines and a solid caramel to balance. Very enjoyable beer.

HonkeyBra (3374) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2011
On tap at the Founders Brewpub. Pours an orangish golden with white head. Strong hop aroma with pine and citrus, medium fruity sweetness. Lots of tropical fruit, some canned peaches, light syrupy sweetness. Flavor is bitter backed with a somewhat large amount of sweetness. Kind of a fruit cocktail thing going on here along with notes of citrus and pine. Certainly full-bodied. Nice carbonation. Good, though not great. Finishes on a sweet note.

On tap at Founders in Grand Rapids, MI. Heavy on fruit, and heavy on the bitter, this was just an alright dipa for me. Poured with light carbonation in the burnt orange body, and a minor layer of pillowy, white head. Lots of fruits, and heavy citrus here. Caramel malts, light soap, and herb. Light booze in the feel, and a bitter, sticky finish. This one, I liked at first, but in the end, felt like it could be better.

Poured from a growler a copper color with a white head and nice lacing. Aromas of citrus - grapefruits and lemons - and caramel malts. Taste is sweet on the front end and bitter on the back. Palate is medium body, and a nice dry finish. Another solid beer from Founders, but nothing that just jumps out at me. It really good, nice balance, nice bitterness, but to me something is lacking to make it great.

On tap at the brewpub. Very good double IPA. Not to hoppy or sweet, but a good combination of both. I like mine a little more hoppy and thicker, but not bad.
