COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made to Celebrate Founders 15th Anniversary, Bolt Cutter Barley Wine is an American barley wine that pours deep copper color and is strong, sweet and malt-forward, with a spicy complexity. Typical of the style, it is very cellarable. The final product is a blend using beer that was aged in Bourbon barrels, some from aged maple syrup Bourbon barrels and some from standard fermentation. After blending, the beer was allowed to mature in bottles and kegs for a few months before releasing.

Pours clear blood orange into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes to mottle surface. Hot tropical varnish aromas. Soft with tropical fruit, maple syrup and toffee upfront turning hot in the lasting vanilla and alcohol burn finish.

Bottle acquired via trade with Homer321...had to let my pops try this as he is a fan of rich and crazy sweet and this one didnt disappoint! Fiery amber/burnt tangerine pour with a tightly packed eggshell foam. Nose isnt quite as complex as Id like but shows loads of vanilla bean, molasses, toffee, and maple syrup. Flavor is similar with the addition of some oak, honey-baked biscuit, and hints of cocoa. This one is quite sweet but I didnt find it at all cloying and the ABV is masterfully (dangerously) hidden. Nice syrupy mouthfeel as well.

Aroma is thick caramel malts with a citrus/pine hop punch. Just like arrogant bastard but more caramel heavy. Body is thick and chewy. Sticky. Color is bronze/brown with a nice head. Very intense flavors of caramel and resinous hops behind an alcoholic mask. Good. Intense.

What an interesting barleywine, thanks for the share OmegaX. This beer looks, smells and tastes almost EXACTLY like Arrogant Bastard. Id even like to go no further than to say so. Not kidding.
