3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle generously picked up for me (and paid for) by my friend Nate. Pours a bright copper with a thicker than expected yellowish beige head. Nose is huge vanilla, wood, and maple. Some bourbon-like notes. Smells sweet, slightly spicy, but Christ this is sweet and boozy.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sort of a light burnt orange color. Frothy off-white head. Malty, hoppy, fruity, citrus, caramel, bourbon, Full body, sticky. The middle is interrupted by a big spicy bite of alcohol that really threw me and was tough for me to get passed and kind of ruined the beer for me.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle; Pour is fairly clear mahogany in color with a fine bubbled one inch white head in this glass. It has a very nice appearance, though retention is on the average side, with sticky and spotty lacing present. The nose is hop forward; some pine, light citrus, light earthen notes, caramel and toffee, and perhaps a bit of vanilla. I thought this one could have used a heavier barrel treatment than it provides, and that aspect reveals itself quickly for me. Itís initial bitter, with a bit of cream, moving to the pine and grapefruit, toffee, caramel, and into the barrel treatment : vanilla and light earth, heavy on the sweetness (maple syrup) - but lacking a bit of heft. Which is surprising, this being a 15%er - anyway - I really enjoyed this one - but I think they could have done more with this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definite yeasty nose with complex esthers found in other high rated barleywines. Very sweet with bitterness not over pronounced. The complexity was in the nose, not in the flavor profile. Not much to say about an overpriced barleywine.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared bottle. Very high ABV cannot be hidden. While Iím not hit in the face with the full 15%, this is, nonetheless, a bit too boozy for me. The high ABV comes in a very flavorful brew, which suggests various fruits and fruit brandy. Excellent hop/malt balance.
M: Rather full bodied, with excellent (low) carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very good, but unremarkable other than being 15% and having the booze well hidden. Tastes like most american, west coast barleywines. Strong, sweet, with hops at the front and back.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at Hunahpu day í13. Amber pour. Toffee and toasty malts in the aroma. Tastes are sweet molasses, sugary, little boozy, more sugary... Too sweet for me.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location/Date:Bottle split with Dave on March 31st, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a nice maroon thatís nearly see through.
Aroma: Aroma of caramel and light bourbon.
Taste: Light bitterness, caramel, faint bourbon.
Palate:Medium light body, light aftertaste, covers alcohol well.
Summary: This beer was really interesting. Starting off, was scared of enjoying something 15% but it wasnít too bad. The beer tastes good and is very well made, but seemed almost too one note, even if it is a good one note.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer was pretty good. Wheres the barrel? Rich robust barleywine with some dark fruits and candy sugar and a grainy earthyness. The founders bump.
