Made to Celebrate Founders 15th Anniversary, Bolt Cutter Barley Wine is an American barley wine that pours deep copper color and is strong, sweet and malt-forward, with a spicy complexity. Typical of the style, it is very cellarable. The final product is a blend using beer that was aged in Bourbon barrels, some from aged maple syrup Bourbon barrels and some from standard fermentation. After blending, the beer was allowed to mature in bottles and kegs for a few months before releasing.

Bottle acquired via trade with Homer321...had to let my pops try this as he is a fan of rich and crazy sweet and this one didn’t disappoint! Fiery amber/burnt tangerine pour with a tightly packed eggshell foam. Nose isn’t quite as complex as I’d like but shows loads of vanilla bean, molasses, toffee, and maple syrup. Flavor is similar with the addition of some oak, honey-baked biscuit, and hints of cocoa. This one is quite sweet but I didn’t find it at all cloying and the ABV is masterfully (dangerously) hidden. Nice syrupy mouthfeel as well.

Aroma is thick caramel malts with a citrus/pine hop punch. Just like arrogant bastard but more caramel heavy. Body is thick and chewy. Sticky. Color is bronze/brown with a nice head. Very intense flavors of caramel and resinous hops behind an alcoholic mask. Good. Intense.

What an interesting barleywine, thanks for the share OmegaX. This beer looks, smells and tastes almost EXACTLY like Arrogant Bastard. I’d even like to go no further than to say so. Not kidding.

Pours a strawberry hazy golden color. Has a nice barley , sugar and honey taste. I wish I would have aged it more. I grabbed it thinking it was the porter in my fridge but the 15 percent alcohol is well hidden in the flavor. Perfect way to end a beautiful day.

750 mL bottle. Pours a clouded orange amber with a yellowy off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma with citrus, toffee, very slight oxidation notes. Flavor has caramel, citrus hops, toastiness, oak with an alcohol sharpness and again a slight oxidation hint. Yum! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Pracna pours a dark mahogany amber with a large off-white head. Nice hop presence in the nose, with some caramel malts. Taste has a mellow caramel malt with some soft vanilla and soft bourbon presence with a dragging bitter resinous pine hop on the finish. Overall drinkable for a barrel aged Barly Wine with a solid hop presence.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Beautiful hazy red orange, thick, dense light golden crown that retains magnificently. Sweet breadcrusts, brown sugar, sponge toffee, light yeast, lightly floral, some sherry qualities. Densely chewy, rich and lovely. To me, an archetypical American style BW.
