Nice aroma of citrusy hops with a hint of pine. Deep golden color with ultra white head. First taste is citrusy hops and sweet malt. Overall, high on the sweet side, then followed by a balanced bitterness that is mild. Finishes smooth with mild bitterness, that reverberates nicely. Nice intro IPA for a rookie, but enough there to satisfy a hop head. Nice beer.

Bottled. Smell hops. Pour amber with a white head. Taste hops and malt. Very mild citrus notes. A good ipa

Cold bottle. Not sure how old it is but the importer put a BB of Jan 2014, which suggests that this is about 6 months old. Carbonation looks low and there’s not much head, but it’s spritzy in the mouth. Not much going on in the smell. Slight grapefruit, citrus and lager flavours. It tastes like fruit flavoured water. I would say that this IPA is dead. Drink it very fresh or don’t bother!

Light bodied - in keeping with a low malt profile. Upfront hops as I like it. Great to have a lower alcohol brew with flavour! But... Just a tad two-dimensional to give it top marks. I would have it again and then again if I was in a session. But for sheer palate pleasure, I would still go for Hop Hog albeit more alcoholic.

Draft. Smells like hops and citrus with a little stank. Very easy drinking IPA with a nice palate and a perfect amount of carbonation. Not a lot of depth to the flavor. Grapefruit and citrus. A good summer IPA.

Hazy IPA with hops but rounded out as a session. Bitter with hints of floral and pine. The finish is a lingering yeasty flavor.

Pale blond colour. Aromatic floral, perfumey hop aroma. Taste has light tartness and fruit sweetness. Moderate hoppy, bitter finish. Good balance.

Had it on tap at Moody’s Pub in Chicago. Pours a clear amber copper hue with a medium head. The aroma is a floral hop delight and the taste is solidly delicious bitter hop IPA.

My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hops and their spicy greenness (very sage-like!) dally within a lean, bubbly mouthfeel brushed by lightly honeyed malts.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fleeting head of foam finally settles atop the misty golden.
-The spicy hop profile is also reminiscent of citrusy thyme and lemongrass.
-The finish is relatively dry and just a tad bitter.
-Carbonation’s a bit too prickly for my tastes.
-This is the kind of brew the British have been doing extremely well for a while now. If you like this Founders’ brew, you should love most hoppy Golden Ales brewed in the UK.
