Usually the hop head scoffs at so called session IPA’s. Founders doesn’t make bad beers, and this is no exception. Strong grapefruit scent. Light orange color. Flavor is kind of on the lite side: bitter fruit juice mainly. Most notably, however, is the smoothness of the body. You really could drink these all day. Unsure what to make of it, as the target audience is priced out and wouldn’t know what to make of it anyway, while Founder’s usual clientele will be left looking for the bitter pain.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Golden medium tan head. Nice aroma of citrus, floral, berry fruits, grass. Mild sweet taste, doesn’t quite match the aroma. Medium body, texture a little too thin, mild bitter finish, lacks some crispness. Overall a solid IPA and sessionable.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a one finger white head. Head retention is on the weak side but some decent lacing on the sides of the glass.
The aroma is very citrusy with a healthy dose of grass thrown in as well. Pineapp/mango tropical citrus is what really jumps out. Not much in the way of malt at all; maybe a little bit of caramel.
Taste is extremely hop forward as well. The same tropical citrus that was present in the aroma is there but it falls off rather quickly leaving a moderate to high bitterness. Really no malt at all which is a shame along with a very watery mouthfeel.
Overall, I like the attempt by Founders to make a session IPA but I feel the style just doesn’t work all that well. The hops really overpower everything plus the price is just too high to really session.

Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a transparent lager color with minimal head and no lacing. Aroma was of a typical IPA but a little more spice. Taste was citrusy hop but exceptional tang. G good all around IPA

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2014 My favorite session beer. Light and citrusy hops makes this wonderful to drink in the warm weather.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz short bottle into snifter glass. Clear amber-golden color with minimal white head going into a lacing quickly. Aroma of faint fruity hops, leaning towards peaches, apricots and some citrus to me. Taste is light hop bitterness and light malt sweetness balancing very well. Light body, moderate carbonation, very drinkable with a clean finish (well maybe some residual bitterness). Very good session ale (it’s in the name!).

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Intense bitter citrus and piny nose. Lightly orange-timted gold color with a slight haze. Good, dense white head. Thick lacing covers half the glass. The body is cool and thin, a bit watery but the flavor is intense. Its a grapefruit, floral hop bittersweetness. It.finoshes blandly bitter amd with a bit more body bit remains like a light IPA all the way through. This is a badass beer you can session all day instead of the now hone shitty pale light american lagers. Woohoo!

Faint hop aroma. Medium body. Amber color with modest head. Taste is malty with subtle citrus, piney finish. Not a bad session IPA. I’d go with the Lagunitas All Day Fractional IPA instead.
