Pours a clear but slightly hazy copper with a small white head and some spotty lacing. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, pine, cloves, and wheat. Taste is pine, clove, and wheat bread. Both the taste and the aroma are pretty basic. Definitely nothing in your face. Palate is dry, crisp, light and clean with a short and dry but nice finish of malty wheat bread. This is what I would call an old school IPA. The kind of IPA you’d find 10 or more years ago before IPAs were popular and before every company was trying to out hop one-another with their IPAs. Very basic, but in a nice way. Far from the usual hop-bomb IPAs so prevelant today. Very subdued and extremely drinkable. If this were stronger than a session beer, it wouldn’t work at all as it is definitely nothing special as far as IPAs go. But this is refreshing and tasty enough to be a very nice session beer. Certainly nothing worth seeking out other than as a session beer or for introducing someone into the world of IPAs.

This is a good IPA, but I wasn’t too thrilled with it. I’m not sure I would make this a staple in my fridge. I think it would make for a good session beer, but only because the hops aren’t as intese as usual in the style. The body seemed a little too light and empty. The hops were certainly there, but just not in the quantity I’d prefer.

Tasty and refreshing, great beer for a hot day. Hops are subtle and tasty, lingering nicely on the palate.

This beer is super well balanced. Nice floral notes and bitter enough to give it a bite without being overpowering. Color rings true to west coast ipa style. Love the low(er) abv. Obviously not a "session" beer but I can rock this all day :)

Maris (989) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - AUG 23, 2013
From a 355ml bottle on 23/8/2013. Pours a clear lightish golden with a small head. Has a beautiful floral, fruity aroma, featuring loads of passionfruit. The flavour includes sweet citrus fruit, a hint of stone fruit, and a lovely medium, lingering grapefruit bitterness. Has a light body and medium carbonation. This is a very nice IPA and quite impressive for something that weighs in at just 4.7% ABV.

ROGUE (2099) - Newark, Delaware, USA - AUG 22, 2013
On tap at Capones. Pours a golden yellow color with a light amber hue and a one finger white head. Bright citrus aroma with hints of pine and subtle malt can be picked up underneath. Sweet grapefruit flavor is very fresh and bright up front. Grassy bitterness balances the sweeter citric hops. Slightly toasty pale malt sits in the background. Crisp, light body, with a medium carbonation.

Jabic (427) - Brigantine, New Jersey, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Ar: Zesty grapefruit, lemon, and pine - very bright. Ap: Very light amber, clear - small off-white head with moderate-good retention and a ring and thin film of foam. T: Clean, cracker-like malt - bitterness is high and clean - lemon and pine flavor - finish is cracker malt. P: Light body with high carbonation, comes off as very thin, almost watery - finish is very dry. O: This beer has a great hop nose, but between the ultra-clean malt profile and the very thin body, it just falls flat, overall.
