Can from a make-your-own 6-pack from Binny’s South Loop. I really love the fragrant hop bouquet of juicy fruits piney dankness. The look is that wonderful copper gold I want while the body has a zesty carbonation but is a touch on the thin side. The taste is pretty good, not quite as interesting or flavorful as the aroma but a solid herbal hoppiness with a bitter pine finish. A really nice take on a Session IPA.

Bottle. Poured a medium amber, very slight haze. Large off-white head with large bubbles died fairly quickly leaving nice legging. Aroma is strongly citrus (grapefruit). Initial taste is slight malty flavor with a hint of sweetness, gives way quickly to strong hop bittering and flavors featuring grapefruit and piney notes. Finishes dry and clean. Overall impression is a nicely balanced IPA which goes down very easy.

355 ml bottle from Premier Gourmet. Pours a clear orange colour with small white head. Aroma is grains, pine, citrus and hints of caramel. Flavour is grainy with solid piney, somewhat citric hops and a bit of sweet caramel. Solid body for the style. Mellow carbonation. Nice one.

Bottle @ In Rehne Cairo, Sønderborg. Pours hazy amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and fruit, with notes of citrus. Intense, bitter, hoppy flavour, enhanced by notes of citrus. Touches of fruit and yeast. Lingering, bitter aftertaste. A good Session IPA, although it reaches the high end of the ABV scale for the style and thus could pass for the regular IPA.

Bottle. Slightly hazy and golden in colour, with a half finger foamy light beige head. Aromas of citrus, caramel malt, orange and grapefruit. Taste- bitter hops, a bit clingy in the mouth, some citrus fruits but definitely a malt presence as well. Medium mouthfeel. Nicely flavourful and refreshing.

Hell golden im Glas, leichter schaum, fruchtig piney in der Nase, angenehm bitter für ein Session IPA, würzig bitter im Geschmack, sehr feines Session IPA

For what its supposed to be (session beer) it is very decent. sometimes good to have low abv depending on occasion. The only downside is at that price you can get a beer with allot more going on. But overall good beer for outdoor activities!

Smells nice and light, grapfruit, spice and pine. Hazy yellow with streaming effervescence, dissapaing white heat. Well balanced but not overly complex flavor, starts with some tropical notes and finishes with some pine. Quite light and only moderate bitterness. A little piney for my taste, but if that doesn’t turn you off, this is a very nice session IPA. Light bodied and average carbonation.

Transfer from BA review on 3-7-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – Served a clear golden colored brew with a tiny half finger white head. The head faded rather fast to leave only a very light level of lace on the sides of the glass Smell- The aroma is heaviest of a citrus grapefruit hop smell with some sweeter caramel mixed within. Along with these smells is a lighter bready smell and hints of some pine hop. Taste –The taste begins with a light bready and light caramel flavor mixed with a rather strong amount of grapefruit hop bitterness (at least for the relatively mild bready body). Some very light notes of a tangerine sweetness are upfront as well, with these fading relatively quickly as the taste advances. While these flavors of tangerine diminish the grapefruit hop flavors ever so slightly does as well but is replaced with a blend of grassy and pine hop tastes. This mix of lightly bready and caramel with a mix of grapefruit, pine and grassy hop leave a somewhat bitter and dry flavor to be left on the tongue. Mouthfeel- For a 4.7 % abv brew the body is on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is slightly below average. The thicker body really accentuated the hop tastes nicely, but with the lack of a body to back it up, it was almost too much for the brew, especially since the carbonation was on the lower side. Overall – This is one nice low alcohol IPA. Its not perfect, but this is a difficult brew to build and balance that hop and body properly while still keeping the IPA hop character, but yet still keeping it sessionalbe. Founders dose a pretty good job.
