Bottle split with JF, thanks to he, 09/06/13. Lightly hazed orange amber with a thin off white head. Nose is orange, light hops, citrus, malts. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, hops, pine bite, light mineral notes, orange pith. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp finish with some hop bitterness. Decent sessionable IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2013 bottle. pale malt body with a white head. bright dried fruit and resin hop nose, very much like citra and simcoe. a bit of cheese rind and BO must at play as well. the body is wonderfully dry, carbonation soft, hop acid tingly, zesty, fresh and vibrant. maybe a bit over-hopped for it’s size but that’s a minor complaint given how soft, floral, fruity and well-integrated the hops are with the pale malt. delicious beginning to end. Re-rate: husky, resinous, messy. Disappointing.

Growler as Founder’s All Day IPA thanks to womencantsail. Pours with a clear old body with a smallish off-white head. Aroma is huge, big time grapefruit and citrus hop character. Lightly dank. Minimal malt. Clean. Flavors of tea, grapefruit, tangerine. Fruity, bready, estery. Lively bubbles. Dry. A bit of papaya on the back end. Quite well done!

355ml bottle at Glød. Nicely served in a tall tulip shaped glass. Decent, lasting white head, snowy lace. Hazy golden coloured body. Moderate aroma of grapefruit. Similar taste profile added by a caramel touch. Semi-dry ending of citrus shells. Easy to drink. Session ale, indeed (Oslo 13.02.2014).

Draft and sixer from Capone’s. Pours clear dark straw with off-white head. Nose pops, with mango, tangerine, pineapple, caramel malt, piney hops. Tastes piney hoppy, with tropical fruit, black pepper, and a crisp finish. Also finishes a bit dry. The draft is better, but I could drink either version all day.

My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hops and their spicy greenness (very sage-like!) dally within a lean, bubbly mouthfeel brushed by lightly honeyed malts.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fleeting head of foam finally settles atop the misty golden.
-The spicy hop profile is also reminiscent of citrusy thyme and lemongrass.
-The finish is relatively dry and just a tad bitter.
-Carbonation’s a bit too prickly for my tastes.
-This is the kind of brew the British have been doing extremely well for a while now. If you like this Founders’ brew, you should love most hoppy Golden Ales brewed in the UK.

Bottles.

Sample at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange (as "All Day IPA). Pours a lustrous clear yellow-orange color with a medium bone white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Light body with a moderately bitter hops character that has grassy and fruity notes. Malt and caramel in the background. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Solid "Session IPA" overall.
