bottle to glass reveals a light copper appearance. Most lower alcohol beers are terrible in the taste department, but this is basically your standard IPA flavorwise. Nice pine, resin, spruce, and light citrus. Nicely done Founders, but not quite as satisfying as Victory’s Headwaters.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a light orange/gold with a finger-width of white head on top. Light retention. The nose is bursting with citrus and pine needles! Sharp and inviting aroma. The mouth is crisp and clean. Easy finish. This beer starts out with a nice bitter smack, but this hesitates and finishes with a sweet citrus flavor of orange and tangerine. Well balanced. This cures my craving for the bitterness, but is also quite refreshing and easy to consume. Not the standard for IPAs no doubt, but this one holds its own while also taking on some characteristics of a "sessioner" - lighter ABV, clean, tasty. I liked it.

Can from a 15$ 15-pack (great deal!) Appearance: light green aluminum can with canoe-trip on front :) Aroma is orange-citrus, grass, herb, slight nectar sweetness. Body is light, watery, with a mild carbonation crest about a second in, a bit of CO2 sizzle, sort-of creamy, but the watery mouthfeel of the beer leaves gaps making it a bit more scratchy than I’d like. Flavor is more tree and grass bitterness - not sure where all of that delicious sweet-orange aroma is in the flavor... oh well, still an excellent session for the price. Moderate, sappy bitterness finishes things off. I still think its overrated...

Clear light orange beer with a blonde creamy head disappearing pretty fast leaving lacing on the glass and a permanent thin layer on top of the beer. Aroma is really nice with lots of fruits such as grapefruit, peach and pineapple. Taste is first fruity and little malty sweet, then the hops kick in with loads of bitterness leading in to a long, dry, bitter and licoricy finish. Mouthfeel is thinner than medium with moderate carbonation. I feel this could have either a little more body or less bitterness, now it’s a bit unbalanced, but still a refreshing brew.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a one finger white head. Head retention is on the weak side but some decent lacing on the sides of the glass. The aroma is very citrusy with a healthy dose of grass thrown in as well. Pineapp/mango tropical citrus is what really jumps out. Not much in the way of malt at all; maybe a little bit of caramel. Taste is extremely hop forward as well. The same tropical citrus that was present in the aroma is there but it falls off rather quickly leaving a moderate to high bitterness. Really no malt at all which is a shame along with a very watery mouthfeel. Overall, I like the attempt by Founders to make a session IPA but I feel the style just doesn’t work all that well. The hops really overpower everything plus the price is just too high to really session.

Brewvival 2013. Clear golden pour with a small head. Aroma was piney with nice citrusy notes. Flavors were light and hoppy with nice well rounded hop flavors. Very light body and drinkable. Should make a nice session when bottles arrive. Looking forward to it.

Pours a golden orange with a thin, bubbly white head. Smells of citrus, pepper, and pine/grass. Taste is a bitter front with some grass and pine then a malt finish.

Pours yellow with a golden tinge and a generous, foamy white head. Nose is hoppy. Piney notes. Taste is also dominated by the hop notes; nice crisp bitterness. Medium to full body. Very nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
