I guess session beers are 4.7 percent now. Sigh. Criticism for the marketing of this as a "senses-sharp" beer aside, letís discuss the aromatics, the bright hops, the sticky fruit and pine, and the long caramel and bread malt finish. This is not a beer for the proletariat. Founders is dreaming if they think the working man gets this. But for the good-beer man who wants a daytime tipple, this is a nice and rather refreshing option.

Pours a fairly clear golden hue with a thinner eggshell head that settles to a ring and leaves a fair amount of soapy lace. Nose involves some dank pine resin, lighter citrus and tropical fruit notes. Taste is somewhat sweet, plenty bitter. Thinner bodied, light, crisp, with a refreshing and fairly lengthy bitter finish. Would be excellent in the dead of summer. Itís kind of like a half-strength Double Trouble, the hop profiles are so similar.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2015 Really smooth drinking session IPA at Mad Mex. Not too overly hopped. Sweet taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rosehip, cat pee nose, peach underneath. Clear amber, medium head. Grapefruit peel, lemongrass, dry-ish. Light body but not completely thin. Nice.

Bottle. Bright gold pour, white head, some retention/good lace. Aroma is citrus, lemon, soap, cracker, light biscuit. Taste is bitter, citrus, orange peel, cracker/light biscuit. Palate is dry, higher carbonation, slick, bitter finish. Great flavor for low ABV.

Aroma: The nose of this beer has fresh pine, some citrus, resin, and crystal/caramel malts
Appearance: This one pours a clear golden color with a fairly small white head
Flavor: The flavor is light-medium sweet, noticeable malts, and a clean, medium bitter, hop finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is quite clean and easy to drink with a medium dry finish
Overall Impression: First off, Iím still a fan of this whole Session IPA movement, and if they start canning some of these Iíll be even happier. As for this one in particular, I thought it was solid, but it wasnít the standout I wanted it to be. Still though, it is another really good beer from Founders, and something I could certainly drink All Day. I bet this is Adrian Petersonís favorite beer.

[bottle] Potent US hops aroma with some sweet caramel to complement the pine and citrus. Clear copper under a white ring. Sweet caramel malt flavour with some lemony, bitter grapefruit in perfect balance with sweetness. Moderate fruitiness and a dry finish that is a bit mineral watery. Medium body, medium carbonation, almost clean finish.

Bottle. A clear amber pour with a very thin beige head. Pungent pine trees, grapefruits, dried apricots, and plenty of zesty citrus rinds dominate the aroma. There is a bit of a caramel malt backbone that keeps things from being too one-sided. Thin to medium-bodied. Some sweet caramel maltiness upfront in the taste. Kinda grainy. A tad biscuity. Lots of grapefruit and zesty citrus rinds at the tail end. VERY drinkable and quite flavorful for such a low ABV. Quality.

Bottle. Golden medium tan head. Nice aroma of citrus, floral, berry fruits, grass. Mild sweet taste, doesnít quite match the aroma. Medium body, texture a little too thin, mild bitter finish, lacks some crispness. Overall a solid IPA and sessionable.
