tap for the harvest party in 2011. dark amber with minimal head. aroma of big pepper and some faint sugars. wood and whiskey in the flavor..maybe the sweetest of the bunch

On tap at Founders brewpub, pours a clear golden amber with a slight pepper aroma, the flavor is actually a little sweeter than I expected, tasted more like green peppers than anything, even has some fruit notes that come through in the finish, the most mild out of all the Spites.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
Silphium (2718) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 29, 2011
Draft at Founders. Translucent dull coppery body, thin ring of off-white carbonation. The nose delivers a punch of vegetal pepper heat that just threatens to singe the nostrils. The body is mostly dull oak, vanilla and pepper, not flat, but lifeless. Heat picks up after several sips and leaves a persistent warmth in the chest. As pepper beers go, this is not bad.

Tap @ Founders. Clear, red orange appearance with an off white head. Caramel, toffee aroma with a fairly potent green chili smell. Mild vegetal, caramel malty, a touch spicy, chili flavor.
