On tap at Battleship. Pouts a clear olden color. Aroma is of hops, oak, bourbon, slight booze and a little pine. Medium palate. Flavors include hops, oak, bourbon, malt and some booze. Leaves an oaked bourbon hoppy finish. Still a little hot though.

Tap. Pours hazy butterscotch amber with little head or lacing. Aroma is pine, wood, buttered popcorn, toffee, bourbon. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, buttery toffee notes ever present. Lingering bitter finish, touch of citrus, perhaps some lemon peel. Medium body, oily smooth mouthfeel.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bmerz (468) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Bottle. Out of Spiegelau IPA glass. Aroma when warm is big ripe tropical fruit , vanilla, caramel, and other bourbon notes but not overbearingly so. The flavor is very sweet with more pine, grapefruit, spice, alcohol, wood, vanilla, and less of Bourbon than I was expecting. It’s pretty well proportioned in that way. Feel is sticky but dries and gets gritty with wood, bitterness, and alcohol in long finish. This one surprised me not being a fan of any Bourbon barel aged beer that isn’t a stout. It totally works.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jow (1380) - New York, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Tap at Blind Tiger Founders event. pours orange with no head. Nose is aromatic and of bourbon. tastes a lot like cream soda, also lots of bourbon, some oranges, vanilla, caramel, and some hoppy bitterness on finish. kinda sweet on palate
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bnielsen13 (114) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Color is orange with a white head. Aroma is bourbon, citrus, pine. Flavor is bourbon and pine. Not my favorite, needs some sweetness to go along with the bourbon.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dcschiller (1997) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle at Dak’s. Pours a hazy orange-ish color with eggshell head. Aroma has some muted pine and resin to go with the bourbon and wood. Taste is predictably on the bourbon side with the hoppiness being muted. As I drink more of these kinds of beers, I wish brewers would make them less. It’s just not a great combination unless you love any and every beer aged in bourbon barrels.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 paintedmaple (211) - Fenton, Michigan, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Nice boozy bourbon flavors in this DIPA, but they seemed a little out of place to me...like a marriage that wasn’t quite made in heaven. Good but not great.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 flatmatt (871) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 18, 2013
750 mL bottle. Pours clear golden orange with some small, sparse particles and a white head. Aromas of candied citrus, tropical fruit, bourbon. Oaky bourbon on top of tropical and citrus fruit flavors, pairing pretty well. I like it.

Golden pour, white head. Lots of bourbon aroma. And the flavor is still overwhelmed by the barrel aging. Interesting beer, but too much booziness and not enough Hoppiness.
