COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Fresh bottle. Pours honey gold with nice head. Aroma is alcohol, hay. Taste is boozy...lots of bourbon notes with the maple syrup kicker. Not as sweet as I expected. The wheat characteristics give it nice balance and character. I’m a fan.

sweet smelling and nice color but has some sediment. Beer is sweet and fruity with maple syrup upfront and a bit boozy but enjoyable. If finishes well with these flavors melding and a little bitter finish.

On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta). Medium amber with a durable off-white head. Fruity, hoppy, bourbon barrel aroma with pretty good balance. Boozy. Flavor is also rather boozy, and sweet. Made a great first impression but then became less enticing. O: a bit strong and boozy, but given this, nicely crafted.

Lukaduke (2853) - Gray, Maine, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Pours a deep golden almost copper color with a finger of eggshell foam. Nose is lots of maple sweetness, cotton candy some spiced vanilla and booze. The palate follows the nose with a sweet biting booze that wraps all the flavors up and strangles them with sweetness. Some fruity wheat notes ebb and flow throughout the palate but the overall appeal just doesn’t do it for me. No finesse.

Bottle. Poured at a tasting event. Dark cover pour with white head. Citrus, leather, vanilla, syrup, american oak, burbon. Syrupy in the mouth. Can feel the alcohol.

Keg at Rattle ’n Hum, NYC- 23rd January 2014. Orange amber colour with little retention. Aroma is bourbon with strong orange, woody notes. Taste is excessively sweet with oily notes. Booze not particularly well integrated. Massively disappointing.

Pours clear dark copper color with off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, bourbon and maple. Similar flavors. Full body with moderate carbonation and syrupy mouthfeel.

Bomber at Jerry’s. Clear, but with debris, red-orange with good, creamy, white head, light wet lacing (barrel-aged) / Sweet nose of citrus, rind, bourbon barrel, hard caramel, hint of tobacco / Full body, sweet, fruity, chewy, some burn, excellent balance with some bitterness on the finish / Flavors of orange peel, fresh caramel, mellow bourbon barrel, grapefruit rind, maple syrup (power of suggestion?) / Founders has a way with these big boys.

(bottle - 750 ml) Cloudy copper pour. Sweet bourbon and maple syrup aroma hiding some dark fruits and malts. Flavor is sticky fruits mixed with the maple syrup and bourbon. Smooth and really warming. Glad we have another one of these to try in a few years.
