COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Bomber on Xmas day. Figure I need something that will last hours since we are stuck inside with no place to go. This is the most forward bourbon tasting beer I've ever had. Severe burn age too. Sweet is right. This will last 3 hours sipping on no doubt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. Sweet malts and molasses, with bourbon and some light peachy fruity notes. Good, not great.

Silphium (3158) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 25, 2013
Bottle. Hazy amber body with abundant sediment, thin buff head. Caramely, sweet nose with brown sugar and lots of bourbon and oak heat. Hot body with lots of oak, bourbon, and a hot, bitter finish. Lots of candied malts lend a nice firm sweetness. Still relatively wispy and liqueur-like due to the alcohol heat.

Bottle. Golden/amber with very nice bubbly white head. Aroma of pineapple, alcohol, honey, vanilla... the aroma itself is very complex... bodes well. Filling mouthfeel, quite sweet, with a distinctive pineapple like flavor. Big time warming sensation in the finish... like sipping on a nice bourbon. Ok, wow, this is really good. This is a sipper, but given it’s lighter body I’m actually looking forward to taking down the whole bottle. Well done!

Thanks to EricTeusink for busting this out to cap a big night of drinking. One thing I will note is that Founders does a crazy good job of incorporating barrels into their beers. Smooth buttery (in a good way) bourbon, big splashes of vanilla, some touches of fruit, maple, sweet (almost cloying but stays on this side). Just lots of rounded out bourbon blended nicely in a big sweet beer. Delicious but I am a Founders fanboy.

On tap at Dixie Bar & Grill. Cloudy brunt orange pour with a white head. Fruity aromas. Huge caramel, mild Irish Whisky, tropical fruit, and oak notes. The nose is tropical fruits. Above average body and mouthfeel. A little too hoppy for taste.
