It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark reddish pour with white head, aroma brought notes of maple, caramel, toffee, hints of caramel, touch of spice, slight earth. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, molasses, touch of earth, slight spice into grass, vanilla, oak, finishing sweet, with some maple.

Bottle Clear light yellow pour, very smal ring of carbonation and an aroma of sweep maple and strong boozy malt. Flavor is also very sweet boozy malty, bourbon and more maple syrup. Really reminds me of Nemesis 09, tasty and worth the asking price.

Seeing a new Founders draft made it a no brainer for my sampler tray. A big bold Midwestern beer is exactly what one would expect from the brains behind one of the best Michigan breweries. Savor this over a long session and find out why Founder’s is still as popular as it was six years ago.

Aroma / Appearance - The flat caramel colored base is decorated by only the thinnest of wispy head. Honey, almonds, wheat, and malt tickle the senses. It feels as heavy as the 12% ABV billing as it hangs in the air like a dense wintery fog.

Flavor / Palate - A thick and vinous first impression crawls into every corner of the palate. Coating the tongue like a layer of sealant it unleashes a chewy wave of orange sorbet, wheat, and watered down honey. The warm finish grows over time - a full pint would definitely take its toll if you did not balance it with water and / or food. Even so I’d love to have one to throw into the cellar to see how it ages in about three years.

On tap at Harris Grill. The series is turning around since the low point of Doom. Still not my favorite. Pours a golden brownish red color with an off white head. Aroma of bourbon vanilla and some maple but not much. Big vanilla. Taste is definitely sweet. Lighter carb and medium thick body. I can stop after 6 oz of this stuff.

Bottle shared with friends. Aroma is great with vanilla, caramel, malt, slight honey, and oak. Pours hazy light brown with a nice white head. Taste follows suit with a sticky molasses, oak, vanilla, and earthy hop. Great balance of sweetness, earthiness, and booze. Finally a winner from Founders’ backstage series. Really enjoyed this one.

Actually, this is my favorite in the series since CBS. Nice golden clear pour, thin head. Nose is sweet full of vanilla, oak and maple. taste is sweet and dry, bananas and tropical fruits masked by the boozy sweetness. 8oz pour, totally could not have more of this.

Damn, this one packs a couple crazy punches. The sweetness from the maple really comes through in the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle into tulip: Pours hazy brown with a thin tan head. Aroma bourbon, oak, smells nice but can definitely tell sweetness is coming. Taste is way too sweet (it’s in the name, after all), bourbon comes through but so does the ABV. Also very nutty tasting. Sticky, cloying mouthfeel, full body, I don’t like it but I also don’t like overly sweet beers. At least I got to say I tried it!

pours a hazy orange amber with a thick white head...good lacing and retention. aroma has some mild fruity sweetness...almost cognac...lightly boozy and bourbony...sweet. flavor has vanilla and earthy hops...lightly oaky and mild boubon...maple sweetness, citrus and bourbon really giving a cognac note...enough oak and hoppiness to cut through the sweetness. mouthfeel is full and resinous with a dry oaky/earthy/boozy warming finish that lingers for quite a while. awesome!

Pours a golden amber out of bottle with beautiful one finger head. Aroma vanilla, bourbon, toffee and booze. Taste of sweet malt vanilla bourbon, toffee and even a hint of the maple syrup. Full body creamy mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Very nicely done. Maybe missing a tad bit of bitterness to offset sweetness.
