2.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Huge orange citrus aroma. Sweet and smooth.
Looks viscous. Creamy off white head. Nice hazy orange sunset color.
Taste is not so good.... Huge huge huge boozy note. Wheaty. Hint of orange in the finish.
Palate is overly boozy... Medium body...
I remember this being pretty solid at Christmas but maybe it was on account of the 12 hour drive up from South Carolina... Itís overly boozy not a lot of flavor lingering dull burn on the palate... Drinks like a cheap brandy. Still only the second bad beer from founders Iíve had.... Also the girl on the bottle is hot hot hot!!!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
pours hazy golden orange, off white cream head, mild sediment. Aroma is burnt sugar, caramel, vanilla, maple syrup, licorice. Taste is similar, quite sweet which is fitting - maple syrup in the forefront, not getting a lot of bourbon other than vanilla, oak, lots of booze. Syrupy mouthfeel, abrasive medicinal in the finish. Decided Iím not the biggest fan of the maple barrels, similar off flavor in boltcutter, canadian, etc - cloying sweetness that almost has a licorice quality. This one similar to the 09 nemesis but I remember that one being much better.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft - Rich malts, apricot sweetness. Cloudy orange with a rich beige head. A bit boozy with the apricot with a yeast finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 bottle. Yellow amber pour. Aroma of barleywine but not all that sweet. Lots of maple in the taste. Almost an overpowering amount of maple. Not bourbon. Has a bit of astringency.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours amber with white head. Nose is a stinging booze, caramel. Maple vanilla in taste...waiting for some barrel but other flavors over power. Age might be in order. Good.

From the February 2014 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a golden color with lots of tiny floaters and a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bourbon, coconut, bread and booze. The flavor was tangy and boozy caramel, honey, bread and coconut. Long tangy coconut, honey and bread finish. Full bodied and syrupy. Nice.
