COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

2013 vintage, 750ml into a tulip glass. Pours a striking clear burnt amber with a half finger of stubborn white foam. Great lacing with some alcohol legs. The aroma is all about the sweetness. Toffee and caramel initially. A bit deeper in is layers of oak, burnt maple syrup, faded piney hops, marshmallow, vanilla and a large booze presence. A lingering candy like burn. Taste is much simpler. Caramel, oak, vanilla, and light maple. Very delicious. Like a maple bourbon soaked marshmallow. Despite the nose it?s not boozy at all. In fact it?s very drinkable. Thin to medium bodied yet lightly creamy. This is an outstanding beer, and the best Backstage since Better Half. Loads of flavor, yet delicate and drinkable. No sense in aging this one, it?s perfect now!

Bottle from Proof. Amber color pour with a bubbly white head. Aroma of sweet bourbon, vanilla beans, hints of Madeira, caramel, wood and touches of maple syrup. Sweet smooth flavor of much the same as the nose with very well hidden alcohol. Heavy bodied and low carbonation. Pretty solid.

Butter rum lifesaver flavored. Sweet boozy. Not a huge fan of this one. No nemesis.

Pailhead (5276) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, fruit, maple syrup, bourbon, light-moderate oak, light coconut, citrus, and a touch of mint. It pours a mostly transparent amber with some very fine sediment floating around. It has a two finger creamy off-white head that leaves behind a good deal of soapy webbing. The flavor starts with moderate caramel, maple syrup, and light fruit. The finish has some mild citrus hops, bourbon, light-moderate oak, light coconut, and vanilla. The 12.6% starts to show itself a little bit as it warms, but I wouldn’t call it hot. It’s full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Overall, this is by far the best Backstage Series since CBS.

ColorPours a pure copper color and a white head with a slight reddish tint. Nose: sugar cubes, sweet and tangy red fruit, caramel, and alcohol. Taste: the maple really comes in strong at first, but quickly gets overtaken by heavy bourbon and dry wheat but maple still remains. Aftertaste lastes awhile with maple. Almost no burn or taste of alcohol.

From a 75 cl bottle shared with and courtesy of Ryan. Pours a clear orange amber with a thin off white head. Aroma of orange and bourbon. Flavors of vanilla, oak, tropical fruits, and bourbon. Smooth and viscous mouthfeel. Hides it’s alcohol well. Fabulous beer.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of sweet caramel, vanilla, maple syrup, bourbon, wood, almonds and dough. Wonderful. Medium copper/amber hue with a small white head that mostly diminished and left no lace. Lots of large particulate as well. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter. Palate is very full bodied and oily with soft carbonation. Overall I really liked this one. Very complex aroma that keeps getting better as it warms. Alcohol is very well hidden and mouth-feel is spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
