COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Cloudy amber in appearance. Aroma is nice, sweet caramel and oak. Taste is pretty sweet as well with oak, caramel, vanilla, and scotchy malt. Tasty brew.

Really cloudy reddish brown with very little white head. Floral scents, lots of honey, very oaky. Average carbonation with a thick sticky mouthfeel and supremely clean finish. Taste is pretty peaty and bitter, very earthy, sweet oakiness and honey as well as molasses molasses prevent it from being too bitter. Good barley wine for me as it’s not too bitter and peaty.

Honey and bourbon dominate this release. Very sweet and dessert forward, almost in the region of a fortified wine. Heavy maltiness - a warming heat comes through but does not overwhelm

pours a cloudy orange with a white head. aroma is sweet with bourbon, caramel and maple. flavor is also very sweet, but pleasantly so though. The balance between the bourbon and maple barrel aging seems to well balanced with neither outweighing the other. As it warms the alcohol seems to spring out a little more. Full bodied, with a syrupy mouth feel. medium carbonation with a finish that starts out sweet then gradually becomes slightly bitter. I know this is sweet but the bourbon aging really balances it out well and it taste wonderful. Nothing bad to say here. Another fine example from the backstage series.

Lots of bourbon on this -- and the rye, nutty, smoky notes dominate over the vanilla sweet ones. Rich and supercharged at 12 percent. Glides over the palate.

On tap at Dexters, pours a clear dark golden orange with a light off white head, aroma is insanely sweet with maple syrup and a hint of bourbon, but mainly sweet, the flavor has very sweet on the front end with a good kick of bourbon and heat in the finish, still really sweet though, kind if just meh on this one.

Bottle courtesy of Steve – thanks! Glowing orange hue with a smaller tan head. Thins out pretty quick to leave merely a ring. Nose is sweet and potent blend of maple and bourbon. Taste is maple syrup, bourbon, oak, and vanilla. The maple syrup, bourbon, and vanilla really take over the taste profile and its barely evident this is a wheat wine, but its in the background. A ramped up version of ’09 Nemesis for sure. 1/3 of the bottle was enough for me, glad to have had shared with good company.

On tap at Dexter's Pub. Opaque caramel color with thick off white foamy head. Tons of lacing. Nose is vanilla, maple syrup, caramel and bourbon. Taste is complex; vanilla and caramel up front with maple and bourbon coming in later and in the finish. It really does have layers of flavor. Smooth and full bodied. This beer finishes long with caramel and vanilla. Very well balanced not overly sweet or cloying at all. I bet this ages amazingly. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is complex, full of maple syrup, caramel and bourbon. Flavour brings out loads of vanilla upfront, followed by maple syrup, and a little booze. Very sweet gr the vanilla, but not cloying in any way. Surprisingly nice - I was expecting a nastily cloying sweet bomb. Very nice stuff.

The aroma is bourbon, sweet, maple syrup, fruit, bread. The appearance is clear amber, off-white head. The flavor is sweet, bourbon, maple syrup, fruit, bread. Like a barley wine with bourbon and maple syrup. The finish is boozy, bourbon. Almost no hops. Cool beer, but you have to like sweet boozy beers.
