It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Sampled during Julio’s Spring Beer Fest. This one was too big for me. I wanted to like it but was overwhelmed by the alcohol taste and burn. Other flavors were maple, oak, and fruit though the bourbon notes were the most pronounced.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapt lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, coconut, toffee, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, light floral, and oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of sweet malts and maple syrup bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, coconut, toffee, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, light floral, and oak earthiness. Slight earthy oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, toffee, coconut, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, and oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of sweet malt and maple syrup bourbon barrel flavors; with a fantastic malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and moderately slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding barrel aged wheat wine. All around fantastic complexity and balance of sweet malt and maple syrup bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Not as big as I thought it would be. Some barrel, sweet hops and some boozy fruitiness. Sweet malt. Pours orange without much head or lacing. Founders event at Churchkey.

Bottle. An attractive pour from teh bomber ... golden orange, with a solid 1/2 inch thick pile of firm foam firmly encasing what’s beneath. But a sturdy aroma still breaks free ... like the pleasant warming aroma of a Kentucky distillery. This drinks with a creamy, warming body, then pile drives the palate with a full-on whiskey burn. I almost want to cut this with some coke or something. Definitely a sipper, or one to put you to sleep. Very much enjoyed the whiskey woven into an otherwise light-charactered beer. Well done. Bottle pour at ChurchKey, thanks solidfunk! Pours golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of bourbon, citrus, tropical fruit. Tasting notes of syrup, caramel, bourbon, vanilla. Medium body with a dry finish. Smooth.

Tap pour. Cloudy amber gold. Smell is bourbon barrel. Lots, and, lots bourbon barrel. Taste is vanilla sweetness and rum cake. Boozey.

750 capped bottle from Capone’s and Whole Foods. Pours hazy deep copper with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, heavy bourbon. Tastes caramel malty, very sweet, with bourbon, oak, molasses, vanilla, and mild hops as it warms. This one successfully straddles the beer/spirit boundary, and reminds me of an Irish Mist/Canadian Mist mixture. Not bad.

Clear amber orange, thin white head. Very light on maple syrup, oak, brown sugar, spices, and a somewhat herbal aftertaste. Sweet, somewhat syrupy, and medium-bodied. Sugary finish with moderate booziness.

Delicious nectar of the g-ds. Honey nose, with strong boozy notes. Like an effervescent muscato d'asti. Honey flavor, with rich raisin and plum roundness. A sensational sipper or celebratory drinker.
