COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

Bottle @ DLD. Sweet caramel malt, oaky bourbon, vanilla, and light maple aroma. Hazy deep straw gold with a large ivory head, flocculation. Sweet caramel malt, oak, vanilla, boozy bourbon, and maple flavor. Medium sticky body, soft carbonation.

Delicious nectar of the g-ds. Honey nose, with strong boozy notes. Like an effervescent muscato d'asti. Honey flavor, with rich raisin and plum roundness. A sensational sipper or celebratory drinker.

Deep golden pour with an of-white head. Aroma is fruit, maple and bourbon. The first thing I notice in the initial drink is the creaminess of the beer. Maple, oak, bourbon-a layered complex beer. Dryness from the oak in the finish. Alcohol as well hidden. Great lacing.

On tap at McGregor’s at $9 for 5.5oz. Poured a cloudy darker orange color with a white head. Aroma was of a good bit of bourbonj, alcohol, wheat, and oak. Flavor was vanilla, oak, dough, and lots of bourbon. Lot-O-alcohol here and it’s not hidden one bit.

Aromas of honey, golden raisin, roasted marshmallow. Hazy orange, a lot of suspended sediment, lasting ring of off-white head foam. Some sweetness, warming alcohol, spice and slight bitterness. Medium-full bodied, lingering fumes of alcohol, great smoothness. Nice sipping beer, strong but not too aggressive.

Candied caramelized orange aromas. Sweet, boozy, honey, oranges, very round velvety mouth feel, floral. A little bit of a tangy finish. So good.

750ml bottle thanks to Brian pours a slight hazy amber pour. Sweet honey and bourbon aroma. Taste is the same with slight vanilla finish

Big ass bottle (I think this is 750mL as opposed to a bomber). Pours a medium honey color, clear with a lot of floaties and thin head that gave new meaning to the words ’no retention to speak of’. Nose is a bit of booze barrel, hint of cinnamon, damp cardboard -- luckily this ends up tasting better than the appearance and aroma would indicate. Mouth is medium bodied, kinda slick on the tongue, fairly sweet, lotta bourbon up front, vanilla, figs, creaminess, honey, finish is wheaty and then mild bitterness lingering. Not bad, but not worth the bottle price (same as the other ’Backstage Series’ to date. I’d recommend just grabbing a four pack of Backwoods Bastard instead. More BA beer -- and better -- at a cheaper price.
