It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

On tap at Dexters, pours a clear dark golden orange with a light off white head, aroma is insanely sweet with maple syrup and a hint of bourbon, but mainly sweet, the flavor has very sweet on the front end with a good kick of bourbon and heat in the finish, still really sweet though, kind if just meh on this one.

Bottle courtesy of Steve – thanks! Glowing orange hue with a smaller tan head. Thins out pretty quick to leave merely a ring. Nose is sweet and potent blend of maple and bourbon. Taste is maple syrup, bourbon, oak, and vanilla. The maple syrup, bourbon, and vanilla really take over the taste profile and its barely evident this is a wheat wine, but its in the background. A ramped up version of ’09 Nemesis for sure. 1/3 of the bottle was enough for me, glad to have had shared with good company.

On tap at Dexter's Pub. Opaque caramel color with thick off white foamy head. Tons of lacing. Nose is vanilla, maple syrup, caramel and bourbon. Taste is complex; vanilla and caramel up front with maple and bourbon coming in later and in the finish. It really does have layers of flavor. Smooth and full bodied. This beer finishes long with caramel and vanilla. Very well balanced not overly sweet or cloying at all. I bet this ages amazingly. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is complex, full of maple syrup, caramel and bourbon. Flavour brings out loads of vanilla upfront, followed by maple syrup, and a little booze. Very sweet gr the vanilla, but not cloying in any way. Surprisingly nice - I was expecting a nastily cloying sweet bomb. Very nice stuff.

The aroma is bourbon, sweet, maple syrup, fruit, bread. The appearance is clear amber, off-white head. The flavor is sweet, bourbon, maple syrup, fruit, bread. Like a barley wine with bourbon and maple syrup. The finish is boozy, bourbon. Almost no hops. Cool beer, but you have to like sweet boozy beers.

750ml bottle, split with friends. Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, raspberry maybe, some bourbon. Heavy, syrupy on the palate with light carbonation. Flavor is very sweet, malty, caramel, toffee, boozy, bourbon, nutty, with a hot, boozy finish.

translucent amber, thin lacing. Sweet nose, tons of cotton candy and grass, light fruit pulp. Heavy oxidation at front palate, tons of sugar and maple across mid, honey before oppressively sweet, incredibly thick and sticky finish.

Sampled during Julio’s Spring Beer Fest. This one was too big for me. I wanted to like it but was overwhelmed by the alcohol taste and burn. Other flavors were maple, oak, and fruit though the bourbon notes were the most pronounced.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapt lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, coconut, toffee, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, light floral, and oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of sweet malts and maple syrup bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, coconut, toffee, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, light floral, and oak earthiness. Slight earthy oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, golden raisin, wheat, vanilla, toffee, coconut, oak, bourbon, maple syrup, and oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of sweet malt and maple syrup bourbon barrel flavors; with a fantastic malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and moderately slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding barrel aged wheat wine. All around fantastic complexity and balance of sweet malt and maple syrup bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
