COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not always a good thing when your reputation precedes you. But the complexity of this powerful wheat wine will give it a Sweet Repute no matter where, when or how your paths meet. Our brewing team painstakingly choreographed each layer of this beer’s characteristics, starting with a healthy wheat and roasted malt base and adding clean, fragrant hops. It’s one-hundred percent barrel aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels over the course of sixteen months, then blended using carefully calculated ratios for the ultimate final product. The resulting 12.6% ABV liquid pours a bright warm russet with a stubborn ivory head and an intoxicatingly sweet nutty aroma. Take your time allowing the layers of flavors to unfold… Because it’ll only get better.

pours hazy golden orange, off white cream head, mild sediment. Aroma is burnt sugar, caramel, vanilla, maple syrup, licorice. Taste is similar, quite sweet which is fitting - maple syrup in the forefront, not getting a lot of bourbon other than vanilla, oak, lots of booze. Syrupy mouthfeel, abrasive medicinal in the finish. Decided I’m not the biggest fan of the maple barrels, similar off flavor in boltcutter, canadian, etc - cloying sweetness that almost has a licorice quality. This one similar to the 09 nemesis but I remember that one being much better.

Draft - Rich malts, apricot sweetness. Cloudy orange with a rich beige head. A bit boozy with the apricot with a yeast finish.

750 bottle. Yellow amber pour. Aroma of barleywine but not all that sweet. Lots of maple in the taste. Almost an overpowering amount of maple. Not bourbon. Has a bit of astringency.

Pours amber with white head. Nose is a stinging booze, caramel. Maple vanilla in taste...waiting for some barrel but other flavors over power. Age might be in order. Good.

From the February 2014 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a golden color with lots of tiny floaters and a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bourbon, coconut, bread and booze. The flavor was tangy and boozy caramel, honey, bread and coconut. Long tangy coconut, honey and bread finish. Full bodied and syrupy. Nice.

From the bottle. Vanilla and brandy over a dark yellow body. Followed by some rum and oak. Very nice. Smooth.

5 ounce taster glass at the Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids. Sweet Repute is a bulldozer. The aroma was amazing, comprised of bourbon, sweet maple syrup, hot liquor, and a fresh baked rhubarb pie’s sugars and crust. The taste was really assertive: boozy, bourbon loaded, dark fruits and maple syrup. This is a sipper beer, approached best in moderation. 5 ounces was plenty. Medium bodied and low in carbonation. Overall Sweet Repute is good for a quick dance, but she’d wear you out in no time if you went out with her for the night.

Bomber. Copper color with small white head. This is a sweet brew. Coconut and citrus notes. Smooth butterscotch taste. Very enjoyable.
