Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2011 Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a dark orange-brown color with a large creamy beige head that produced great lacing. The aroma was brown sugar, caramel and light notes of grapefruit and pineapple. The flavor was very strong bourbon, sweet brown sugar, strong pineapple and light grapefruit and pine. There were undertones of wood and honey. The finish was long with bourbon, brown sugar, wood and fruit. Thick and full bodied. Exceptional.

12 oz. bottle. This is one of my favorites and I am just getting around to rating it. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a smaller beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel and chocolate with mild bourbon, hints of dark fruit and a good shot of vanilla. The flavor is carmelized malt and chocolate, woody, bourbon, dark fruits and more vanilla. The alcohol is never intruding on the flavors. Full bodied and smooth. A great sipper, especially during these winter months.

(12oz bottle. Huge thanks to guyinchicago!). Pours cloudy mahogany with off-white head. Big bourbon aroma. Taste is sweet and very much like bourbon. Medium bodied with a smooth bourbony finish. What a great beer! Thanks again, Chuck. You are the man!

Incredibly smooth, strong is an understatment. taste the bourbon barrel, carmel and the malt. This beer is 1 of three I got for myself in Charlotte back in Nov 10. Black in color with a little carmel brown near the bottom, nice head and lacing.

Poured a cloudy brown color with a medium sized head. Aroma of bourbon, wood, and malts. Lite sweetness hits the tongue first followed by a dry bitter bourbon taste. Palate is med to full bodied. Sort of creamy and oily texture. Ave carbonation. Wow, the beer really soaked up the oak bourbon wood. It really takes over this beer. When you get past the oak, it is a well rounded scotch ale nice balance of malt and hops. I would get it again.

From a growler. The aroma is scotch, sweet caramel, oak. The appearance is a deep opaque dark red/brown, small head. The flavor is scotch, caramel, peat, earth, oak. The body is medium/thick. The finish is alcohol warming, sweeetness, pine needles. Nice, even if the scotch is a little overpowering.

pours a dark ruby brown with almost no head. lots of wood and liquor in the nose. taste is a smoothed out scotch ale flavor with the bourbon and oak notes. kind of sweet and syrupy. i also taste a slight nutty flavor in there. well balanced for a 10% abv beer. very good and alot better than i originally thought. great beer from an amazing brewery.

bottle - meh, not what I expected - strong bourbon flavor - very smokey with strong alcohol notes. Not really what I look for in a beer

Thanks to NBondi for the bottle. Deep murky brown pour with a thin tan head. Maple syrup, oak, bourbon in the aroma. Taste is thick and chewy malt, spicy hop bitterness, toffee, maple syrup and hints of bourbon all popping out. Extremely complex and tasty.
