Big and delicious for your íperty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. Itís a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Pour looks almost like a cognac or whiskey, almost no head. Aroma of wood, vanilla, malt. Very wood driven flavor. Almost reminds me of a gentle bourbon more than a beer. Alcohol well hidden.

Strong taste of bourbon right away although it seems to mellow into a refreshing vanilla beer for me, almost like a strong hard root beer. The scent smells of bourbon but still goes down sweet. This beer taste better the second time around because you just are not expecting such a strong burst of bourbon. Overall great beer.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2013 Tap rating (same week had a one year bottle that was good but not as good as tap, about a 3.8) pours mahogany brown with off white head. Smell is very grainy, like a box of cereal, a residual grain and oaky bourbon sweetness with vanilla follows along with a touch of char. Taste is smooth, big barley wine like scotch ale with a touch of bourbon, the oak is well apparent and vanilla and barrel character is solid but so well done. This has everything you?d want in a barrel aged beer. This is one of my favorites from the malt end of the spectrum or barrel aged.

This beer served chilled in a shaker pint. Ar- The beer smells really good; however it falls just shy of fantastic. Nice earthy peat notes compete with vanilla oak bourbon, sweet smoked caramel nicely toasted and roasted malt. Ap- The body of the beer is mahogany. The head of the beer is shortly lived resolving to a ring of foam. T- The beer is sweet caramel, toasted and roasted malts a flash of smoke and peat. The alcohol is a bit spicey. This beer is really nice but again just short of fantastic. P- The body is a little thinner than I want. The carbonation levels help this beer to be smooth and slick. Alchol is a bit player. Oddly enough I think this could be ramped up a bit more. I think a bit more bourbonesque feel would be nice. O- This beer is a nice sipper. Its a beer to seek out but not to go crazy seeking. This is a nicely done addition to the base beer.

12oz bottle from rozis nose is huge on this with a vast amount of aromatics, taste is big and flavorful it takes a big beer to overcome the barrel aging and the scotch style works nice and flavorful but definitively a slow sipper once in a blue moon

Bottle-to-glass at Carrboro Beverage Co. One of those "Iíve never tasted something so delicious" moments. Chocolatey and caramel aroma. Medium to dark brown. I can taste the bourbon. Itís powerful stuff, pretty malty, but not too thick.

Deep copper, clear, pour with off-white head and average lacing. Aromas are big: bourbon for sure, caramels, and notes of cherries. Taste is sweet with an alcohol kick. Little bitterness, but lots of bourbon. Too much for me, but I can appreciate the flavors. Palate is full bodied, slick, and a bit creamy. Big dry, bourbony finish. Overall, this is a big beer with the aging in the barrels. Bourbon/whiskey styles are not my favorites, but I can appreciate the brew. This is a good one for the style.

Wonderful aroma, rich, deep and sweet with heady alcohol, malty, caramel smell. Beautiful dark caramel color. Strong and sweet taste - definitely a sipper.
